@fabulavancouver.bsky.social has been reporting on Vancouver politics for decades. You can make a good case that no one knows the city's politics better than she does.

A real get for OneCity.

YES! there really is no other credible/democratic path forward for him. I've been shocked people have been calling for Ken Sim to be voted out of office but resignation is those only way to take meaningful accountability.

wherein you have a mayor who values the trappings of the job more so than the responsibilities

and his backers value loyalty over competence.

One grandfather was a printshop worker, union organizer, liquor and book store owner. One was a rural doctor in Manitoba and later professor and epidemiologist.

This is notable - the first attempt to get ABC electeds on the record about Ken Sim’s disgraceful and defamatory lies. They should all resign. #vanpoli

This isn’t just a mistake an apology to @seanorr.bsky.social can fix. This is opens up the city to huge liability.

Seeing recaps of Ken Sim's press conference today and once again he fails to meet expectations. No details as to his thinking, no meaningful accountability. He should not complete the remainder of his term nor should he stand for re-election. The minimum required is resignation. #vanpoli

I am saddened to learn that Vancouver Car Free Days will not take place this year. These events celebrate our neighbourhoods & small businesses, & encourage folks to use active transport. I’ll work with Car Free Vancouver Society, impacted orgs & businesses, & Council to get them back on the road!

1/ When Ken Sim and Lenny Zhou spoke about the DTES last week, they demonstrated not only a lack of honesty toward their council colleagues but also a cheap attempt to deflect from their record, one that has made life worse for people in the neighbourhood while making few in Vancouver feel safer:

If Ken Sim has cooked his brain on a CSAM generating website run by a white supremacist and can no longer tell propaganda from reality, that’s another reason he needs to resign immediatel.

What he should do, is resign. I don't know why no one is calling for that. It's an egregious breach of conduct!

When I spoke to ABC Cllr Lenny Zhou this week, I asked him whether he had posted a retraction & apology video in Mandarin on WeChat, the app where his video spreading misinformation was originally posted. He hasn't done so, days later, as far as I know. It's not enough to quietly delete the post.

We tried to speak with Sim after a public hearing ended at city hall, but Sim and Zhou quickly left through the back private door with Sim’s chief of staff.

I’ll continue to let you know when we hear back.

No wonder he ran from reporters.
