This was actually the very first reference I did using a basepack from another artist, cruder and simpler but it helped her really take shape.

A bonus version, showing an intersection of how close she wears the frame!

Of course, the Lightforged Warframe itself needed designing. I had the absolute joy to commission @alexdreamart.bsky.social who is a big Warframe (the game) supporter, who made an incredible design strongly inspired by Trinity Prime. It looks like a sleek weapon, just amazing.

I had the idea quite early on that Shal’yl would be drafted as a backup Lightforged Warframe pilot, she’s not a particularly good fighter, she doesn’t know any artifice, but she is enthusiastic! So I got this piece from @verowwsart.bsky.social of her suiting up ready to go!

I really like her expression and pose, it captures some of her personality!

I did this nude reference of Shal’yl using a basepack, and it really helped me understand my love of character design and grow as an artist- being able to show my ideas using tools from other artists!

This was the first art I did myself of Shal’yl, the Lightforged Sayaad- I was heavily inspired by Legion transmog, and by Lothraxion, so I really enjoyed the idea of a succubus who had forsaken her evil ways, and became an equivalent of a nun, a confessor, a healer for the Army of the Light!
