I agree with you for any position aside from Prop. I think Tightheads in particular need more time in the saddle. He’s 5 years younger than Loughman and 2 years younger than Milne and he didn’t look like the new man out there. He locked out the scrum and carried impact-fully.

I saw FRA LH drop to his elbow&bore across on most scrums starting with a Porter-esque angle, we must have been looking at different scrums 😄 I don’t think there’s much between him&Bealham&if you don’t think he’s international wait till you hear about him getting called up to the Lions!

Do you think 25 is old for a TH prop?He locked out the scrum(with an inexperienced LH) and had some good carries in an overall poor team performance. If Loughman&Milne are a 6 based on last night then a 4 for Clarkson is objectively harsh.

He cleared a French forward on the wrong side of the ruck obstructing play? Ref responded to French protest in the moment saying it was ok which is correct. Some people watch for the flair, some the physicality. James Ryan brings the latter and it’s silly to criticise a 2nd row for hard, clean play.

I think most people who played the game in the forward pack would call that an almost perfect tackle. Better to get the ball but if you get the man like that you’re pretty happy. He’s committed and it’s close enough to the ball that the match official has deemed it legal. Don’t get the argument 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think sometimes the criticism of Leinster gets overplayed.They’ve won every game in every tournament they’ve played in & have got try bonus in 10/13 games. Heavy squad rotation, new players in key positions& key players to return from injury(Furlong, Sheehan), I’d say they’re looking pretty good!

Tom Farrell at Munster and David Hawkshaw at Connacht. Both stand out everytime I see them play

Of course successful clubs get more resources though. National team contribution hurts centrally contracted players club mins which is why the club gets compensated.You can play international&not be 1st choice+Cautionary tales(Murphy, McGrath, Carbury,etc) help player retention at lower salary.

Exactly, consistently in end of season playoffs, selling out the Aviva & Croker & producing the best players isn’t a coincidence. Lowe, JGP, Lancaster & even Nacewa were all smart business. It’s a well run operation that are budget conscious, excellent at retaining players and make smart signings!
