That said, the Triangle metros are king, so that's where you want to look for an early sign of how things are headed.

What is turnout in the I-35 Corridor? What is turnout in DFW? And what are the margins coming out of Houston? These 3 will likely decide everything.

For those of you who aren't really that familiar with Texas geography, I'll put this in simpler terms:

Take out a pen, draw a line between Dallas and Houston. Crockett will win most of what's east of that line, Talarico will win most of what's west of it.

As far as the rest of the state goes:

Crockett is going to win Beaumont, Tyler, Longview, and many of the small towns and rural communities in that area, while Talarico will take El Paso, Corpus Christi, the RGV, and most of the rest of the rurals + midsize cities.

What to look for on Election Night in the #TXSen Dem primary:

1. What are the results in Harris County? Crockett needs to win there by a lot. If she isn't, that's bad for her.

2. Is turnout better in the Metroplex (advantage Crockett) or the I-35 Corridor (advantage Talarico)?
