Feb. 15, 1926: Mehmet Celal Bey, an Ottoman Turkish official who sought to obstruct the genocide against the Armenians during WWI, dies at 62 in Constantinople. The regional governor was twice removed from his posts for refusing to assist in what he called "extermination."

In the northern Illinois village of Roscoe, Thomas F. Agran was commissioned in 2022 to create a mural honoring the area. He painted a detailed, evocative image of the Pecatonica River watershed.

Now, just three years in, village trustees have voted paint it over because some of them don't like it.
