01.03.2026 17:08 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We use my gran's kitchen timer which is a very reassuring elderly plastic thing discoloured with decades of kitchen timing...it does a proper shriek of a bell when it's time.
01.03.2026 08:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Hi Sydney! (genuinely, love a post that's a little window into a corner of the world going about its business)
01.03.2026 08:28 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I think worrying about using a thing for its designed intention is even more British than using it for something totally unrelated
01.03.2026 08:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Has any Brit ever used the oven timer for anything other than identifying how long ago there was a power cut?

The entire millennial identity is being prepared and groomed for a version of the world that stopped existing by the time we reached it
we slammed into a horizon painted on a brick wall like fucking looney tunes
Because Sweden, we get coffee and skiing today β€οΈ This is really quite the sight...

28.02.2026 18:32 β π 11 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Been in Stockholm for an afternoon and now it's time to eat ungodly amounts of cheese and watch the Supernatural musical, because of course it is

27.02.2026 11:43 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0well now this is a turnup
27.02.2026 11:20 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Maybe it's the teenage times and, like with one of my friends, one day they'll have a chronic hangover on a Wednesday in their early thirties and suddenly realise exactly what it is that everyone was banging on about XD
26.02.2026 18:52 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Nice work, salon!
26.02.2026 18:45 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0oh that looks so good, I was scrolling and then like, wait, who is that looking glam π
26.02.2026 17:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Excellent news!
26.02.2026 16:40 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I think one of the most upper middle class things I heard in university was from a girl who thought pairs of tights were single use.
26.02.2026 08:15 β π 29 π 2 π¬ 5 π 0It could, I will definitely have a revisit and think about some next steps - I've drawn on it so much in my everyday work, and in updating my own job title this year, I think there might be mileage. Thank you!
26.02.2026 07:21 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Just the thesis: I sorely wanted to but my confidence took a bit of a dive on the way, and then because my research was located in the return-to-campus period I felt like it might have been too long. I'd love to pick up on a version of it again though; I certainly found it fascinating and rewarding.
26.02.2026 06:48 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A6. Talk about this! Depending on how you get to the career, a job title or the concept of career identity can seem like much of a muchness, or ~politics - but it does have meaning and it does affect how we work and are perceived. Support CPD and CMALT, etc. #LTHEchat
26.02.2026 06:45 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A5. CPD - CMALT, SCMALT, FHEA etc have all helped me frame and reframe and contextualise myself. My MA was a huge opportunity to ground my identity in the history of digital education, too. #LTHEchat
26.02.2026 06:43 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A4. Yes, not least as I studied the professional identity of Digital Education Specialists in UK HE for my MA Education thesis. Doing my homework in the related research and understanding how much we have in common (how many shared perception issues) was revelatory #LTHEchat
25.02.2026 20:37 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A4. I want to be seen as a specialist, and for colleagues to trust and understand my areas of expertise. By focusing on education, I hope I convey that I'm not just here to stick tech into everything; I'm not all that pro-computer, I just want to make the best of them. #LTHEchat
25.02.2026 20:35 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A2. I see myself as a Digital Education Specialist, rather than a Learning Technology specialist - I much prefer working on the strategy and pedagogy of staff and students' digital experience. Aligning my job title has signified a level of trust and understanding from my institution. #LTHEchat
25.02.2026 20:32 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A1. Oh, it matters so much. Job title is perception, identity, opportunity, communication. My new job title aligns far better than the previous one, because it's "Digital Education" over "Learning Technology" and I'm much more comfortable with the education connotations than the tech ones. #LTHEchat
