Tonight, we reached an agreement with the Department of War to deploy our models in their classified network.
In all of our interactions, the DoW displayed a deep respect for safety and a desire to partner to achieve the best possible outcome.
Al safety and wide distribution of benefits are the core of our mission. Two of our most important safety principles are prohibitions on domestic mass surveillance and human responsibility for the use of force, including for autonomous weapon systems. The DoW agrees with these principles, reflects them in law and policy, and we put them into our agreement.
We also will build technical safeguards to ensure our models behave as they should, which the Dow also wanted. We will deploy FDEs to help with our models and to ensure their safety, we will deploy on cloud networks only.
We are asking the DoW to offer these same terms to all Al companies, which in our opinion we think everyone should be willing to accept. We have expressed our strong desire to see things de-escalate away from legal and governmental actions and towards reasonable agreements.
We remain committed to serve all of humanity as best we can. The world is a complicated, messy, and sometimes dangerous place.

Sack's Back: MN's Greatest Political Cartoonist Un-Retired Because He's 'So Fucking Pissed' at Trump, ICE - Racket
Before launching his Substack, Sack had to re-learn to draw using his left hand.
I wanted to talk with Steve because it's amazing he came out of retirement to publish independently. I had no idea he'd been forced to RELEARN HIS ARTFORM WITH HIS LEFT HAND. Anyway, great guy and a state treasure.

One takeaway from #SOTU: Trump is doubling down, not backing away. on the strategy that led to the violent MN immigration operation.

People in the U.S. are being charged up to 16x as much as peer countries for the same treatments.
This is absurd.
As generics manufacturers are expected to begin selling GLP-1s in Canada for less than $100 soon, we're calling on HHS to authorize generic competition for GLP-1 drugs.

A new Senate bill would require reimbursements to businesses within 180 days. House legislation calls for even quicker action.
Three top Democrats are proposing a 180-day deadline for CBP to pay refunds for all of the Trump tariffs the Supreme Court just invalidated. The 180 day timer would kick off once the bill became law.

Lessons from the Minnesotaβs Civil Contempt Case
βThe governmentβs understaffing and high case load is a problem of its own making,β a federal judge observed.
Lessons from the MN civil contempt case, by me:
Petitionerβs atty: βI understand that the caseload has affected all parties astronomically, and we are all human. But my client is, too. . . . All the people behind these petitions are humans.β

A lot of people, including me, were wondering how an IRB could ever approve this study.
The answer is that no IRB did. The person who βsigned offβ on approval from the only ethics board that reviewed it had resigned three years earlier. His signature was used without his knowledge.

A tariff βrefundβ mostly goes to whoever wrote the tariff check: the importer of record. Thatβs not the same person who paid more at the register. So refunds -- if they're offered -- might sound like consumer relief, but in reality, they're corporate windfalls.
