First trout fishing trip of the season on a boat at Rutland Water yesterday. Plenty of fish landed, floating or midge-tip lines and chironomid imitations (aka buzzers) catching most of them. Top fishing - loved it!

New fly fishing season has arrived here in the UK: popped out yesterday for a few hours & a bonny little brown trout has kicked things off nicely from my local Rutland Water.
Fell to a shrimp imitation; hopefully more trout to follow this year!

As was that vid of the lad in his kayak being chased by a white pointer off Cape Reinga - which brought back memories of me & a mate hooking (and getting spooled by) a huge pointer off the shore at the Cape back in 1992. Old picture just found! Me in 1992 in New Zealand, outside the Turangi Smoke House, delivering a big Tongariro brown trout for smoking. And yes, it was delicious! (Though these days I would of course had released it - times today very different!)
