Knits With Cats

Even retired and on days I may not even leave the house I try to look good - matching sweater and socks, decent pants, appropriate jewelry. It's like when I worked in SF, minus the makeup most days. I feel better able to take on whatever comes my way.

The 1st guy I was engaged to (and didn't marry) 54 years ago just made comments on a Facebook memory post! We've maintained a very low-key friendship 2000 miles apart all these years, which some people find weird, but I'm glad for it. We've both changed so much in that time.

Mouth bone stuff is the worst. Finger crossed for no root canal.

Skip graduation. Your time is important and you are allowed to make plans if you want.

It has pistachios in the filling, with other stuff, rather like truffles. Actually quite good, or at least the ones a friend brought back from her son's wedding in Morocco were quite good.

Playing mah jongg and I had no idea how much I needed to get out and talk to and laugh with friends! It's a holiday miracle!

Feeling better tonight. Nurse advocate called, we had a long chat about SOs status and made a couple of decisions for him. He took a shower and came down for dinner and a hot chocolate. I slept through part of Monday Night Football and did an Instacart order. We'll be fine.

If I don't try them how will I know which ones are good? Also which ones I might want to make myself? He's freaking clueless.

I was just cleared to lift up to 20 pounds in October. I had ablations for afib, flutter, and SVT a year ago which put me a little behind schedule..
It's all doable but it takes longer - unpack boxes in the mud room and bring things upstairs piece by piece, for example.

It's been 18 months and I'm close, but my instructions were clear: cooking, laundry, housework, shopping, and walking 30 minutes per day (not all at once) and 3 months of cardiac rehab after I'd been home for 3 months. Now I need a knee replacement - pushing that out for now. Rehab is a bitch!

I always order a Georgia O'Keeffe calendar for my office and a Farmer's Market one for the kitchen. Because I am used to having a 2 month minimum view, I also use the Old Farmer's Almanac one in my office, and I keep a desk calendar in both my office and kitchen so appts are easy to remember.

...and is wearing light cotton scrubs. OTOH I cooked dinner the night I came home from hospital, and did laundry the next day.- maybe I was an overachiever, or maybe he has the special man-version of recuperation. I suspect he's a bit depressed over this and I'm glad he has a Dr appt tomorrow.

Just venting. SO was released from hospital "return to normal activities" on Friday. When I had open heart surgery, I was released with the same instructions. So far, he's not showered, comes down for meals and meds, and that's about it. He has the heaters all set at 78° but won't put on sweats,

I'm sure you are *exactly* the child your parents ordered! Mine, OTOH, just assumed their firstborn would be a boy, so they hadn't even thought of a possible name for a girl! They almost named me Michael (the chosen boy name) but my paternal grandfather put his foot down.

We got at least 2 from Nature Conservancy already. Also, ACE Hardware stores usually have them starting in October.

The lights and decorations make me happy when it gets dark so early. Just because.

Not feeling the Christmas card thing this year so far, so this may be a New Year's card kind of year instead. Unless I change my mind and attitude.

I have 5 Christmas trees to put up, wreaths to make, cookies to make for a swap - lost time last week due to SO's illness, stuff may drop off the plan

My mom did that because there were 4 of us and it was hard to keep milk on hand otherwise. When I make yogurt I always add 1 cup of nonfat dry milk when I heat the gallon of milk. I was told it added extra protein and I can't taste it, thank goodness.

Sorted SO prescriptions into morning and evening containers (he can't remember what to take when and had apparently doubled up on one of his diabetes meds, which was negatively affecting his kidneys). Next up: fold laundry, wash more laundry, make meatloaf (SO request), watch football, cuddle cat.

Busy Sunday so far. Made my breakfast, did a load of laundry. Washed dishes in the sink -SO usually does this. Checked to make sure SO was sleeping, put laundry in dryer. SO awake and wants breakfast, made old-fashioned cooked oatmeal. Sorted my vitamins and supplements for the next 2 weeks, then...

Cheese? Fruit of the month subscription? CSA box subscription? I'm more into consumables, as you can probably tell.

You live in it as you always have, doing good in your own way and ability. People haven't gotten worse necessarily but coverage of them has and we have to look past it to people who are doing and being good. They are out there not calling attention to themselves.

Same here. I'm a bit old-fashioned and the fact that they can't bother to write thank you notes for wedding gifts and such has pretty much guaranteed they get a set of china and $500 (maybe) while my SO (if he oulives me) and PBS get the rest. SO is in total agreement.

Missed that date. Oh well - it would still be fun to do it again.

Didn't you do this a couple of years ago? You painted lovely bluebonnets, if I remember correctly. Go for it - I'm envious!
