I agreed to watch War Of The Worlds (which I love for it's kitchiness) on Svengoolie tonight. I didn't realize that obligated me to watching episodes of The Three Stooges beforehand. Pretty sure my IQ has dropped several points in the past 30 minutes!

I'm definitely anti-gray, not a huge fan of beige but love and look great in camel. Also ivory and cream. Still wear lots of black, but like it with chartreuse, red, turquoise and other brights, as well as large and ethnic jewelry. I like Penelope too - I'm envious of her style!

I'm not exactly anti-fashion but my fashion sense was decided when I was 12 and got my 1st suit. Classic all the way, all the time. A camel colored sweater with cables would be perfect, but not definitely not whimsical. Of course, I'm not whimsical either, so it tracks.

Went out for breakfast this morning, first time in almost 3 months. It's warm (45°F), the sun was shining, ice and icicles melting. That's all still true, but it's all cloudy and rain is possible for the next hour. 2 days below freezing then at least 4 above. Spring must be coming!

Which is why I don't watch the news, except occasionally, once every week or 2, BBC America.

I knew I was weird! I like liver and onions occasionally if it's cooked properly and I'm in the right mood. Also chopped chicken livers, braunschweiger or liverwurst, particularly with lots of mustard. It was an acquired taste; what my mom made was really disgusting.

I made that exact pattern in a red flowered print for my Japanese exchange student in the 70s. She really wanted an American dress!

Housekeeper is gone, SO went for a much-needed haircut, cats are sleeping, it's quiet in the house, and I'm loving it. I need to wash towels, but I'm going to wallow in the quiet for a few more minutes first.

I'm pretty damn cool - at least in my own mind - and he is not cool at all, no way, no how.

I'm old as dirt, but we had:
Nursery school/preschool
Kindergarten
Elementary school (1 - 6)
Junior High (7 - 8, then 7 - 9)
High School (10 - 12)

Housekeeper just arrived, 11:50 am, almost 2 hours late. Fortunately one of us can stay at the house today - no appointments.

First world problems: waiting for the housekeeper to arrive, late as usual. I didn't remind her to be on time (10 am) because we don't have to leave for an appt today. Just got a DM that she's running late (no kidding) and will be here around 11 - which generally means by noon. We'll see...

I desperately wanted to put a plastic skeleton in a weird corner between cabinets in the kitchen, but it was early in the pandemic and I couldn't get one delivered before Rumford installed the granite counter tops. Missed a great opportunity!

That's cool. We've found names and dates on support beams, and a lot of lost stuff - baby shoes, spoons, scissors, tools.

No gold bars or cash. So far, in our various projects, we've found baby shoes, a silver spoon, lots of animal bones, a few tools, and a pair of scissors. Also names and dates in various places.

Contractor came today. Removed old bookcase, found skeletons (mice?), chicken bones, corn cobs in the wall. Decorative trim actually covers the main support beam for the staircase, so back to the design stage for the new media center! It's in the 1790 part of the house, so this is not a surprise!

SO is on his 3rd Toyota Tacoma - the little ones. Current one is 1998 with about 200,000 miles. Previous one had 300,000+, one before that had over 200,000. Both those were sold to LA gardeners who apparently love them because they just keep going.

I bought my Saab when I was commuting 100 miles a day, and almost immediately changed jobs so I took mass transit. Then I moved to NH and worked from home. My previous car was 11 years old and had 205,000 miles on it; my nephew drove it in college for another 75,000 miles; Ford Explorer Sport.

My husband is convinced I'm actually married to my large orange cat, GingerSnap!

My car is now 21 years old, has knobs and buttons, and I'm going to drive it forever. It also has only 38,563 miles on it and I love it.

Did a bit more laundry today, waiting for the contractor but he didn't want to get snow on the cabinets he's building so maybe he'll come Thursday. My backup temporary contacts came, and they appear to be correct! I don't like wearing glasses - can't see nearly as well and I get headaches.

Light snow this morning, a bit more now. Not enough to even need shoveling - just enough to be cruel.

March is my birthday month, and it's been my habit for many years to celebrate in some generally small way every day. Just realized March starts Sunday, and I've made no plans yet! There are things I want to do, or want to get, or want to learn so I'm making plans now.

I use mail order for most prescriptions, but use the local pharmacy for SOs insulin. They don't take his insurance, but took the time to make sure I knew how to use the insulin pens, have relatively good prices, and are a mile away, vs 20 miles away. The owner is a smart lady and they are needed.

NYC paid folks $30/hr to show up at specific locations to shovel - seems to have been successful.
This year I hired a couple of guys to shovel where the plow guy can't get because SO had pneumonia. Costs $100 every time; they text me, we discuss what's needed and they show up. Neighbors? No way.

Some good news: NH protests of the planned ICE detention center in Merrimack caused it to be canceled! Seems people are disgusted at the treatment and conditions reported.
