Ended up breaking the notoriously fragile LILO bootloader while doing some tweaking on my Slackware 7.1 setup. Thankfully I was able to grab a copy of my kernel off the drive, `dd` it to a floppy, and boot from that.

As hairy as early Linux was, there were a few pretty convenient things about it.
