Wow. So the director of NASA has an Imperial logo on his flight helmet?

23.01.2025 03:33 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Staring at the screen and I want a SwiftUI view for editing AND viewing a complex SwiftData model. I would have done this in macOS/iOS as a view with a controller with and editing state. I grok the solution but it seems so odd for a redundant for a single HStack to transform based on a flagโฆ

23.01.2025 01:36 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Wrote some XCTests last night (canโt use SwiftTesting for a few reasons right now) and it ran incredibly slow on an Intel Mac. I wonder if Apple even cares about Intel Macs now?
22.01.2025 18:11 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I think that is the challenge. Obj-C was an odd thing that felt right to me.
The complexity of Swift defeats my goal, which is making great apps. I get the safety aspect. Still? Is it the platform or programmer they are protecting against?
All Iโm trying to do is flush out a SwiftData model for an app concept and it feels tedious.
20.01.2025 02:26 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0SwiftUI is a great innovation that will hopefully evolve in combination with the toolset. Still, I feel we have lost something important with no visual representation of models and UI bindings. Xcode needs to up its game.
20.01.2025 02:25 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The complexity of SwiftData versus CoreData is interesting. I recall the model schema and bindings in Mac OS X that made creating an editable data model and AppKit interface easy. Mind you, it wasnโt pretty when you started. But you molded it to be nice.
