why did I make this

'AI Destroyed the Digital Artist' (from our BLFC show) is based on the 80's hit by The Buggles. This parody is a modern commentary on AI art. In the same vein as the original, it's a reflection on how technological advancements can disrupt established creative artforms with sad consequences.

Herman is a tall red headed man, early twenties. He also happens to be sentient yarn piloting a magical puppet. He uses his yarn like a third arm (or ten). It exits the puppet at seams that are virtually unsee-able. The puppet is indistinguishable from a flesh and blood human. It breathes, is warm, etc. He doesn't mind being himself, but he doesn't (fully) leave his puppet much. Any length of his yarn can see, hear and speak. He doesn't talk to himself, though. He's just a big muscle. He's strong, and if you tried to cut him with scissors you'd probably just break the scissors. he has a sense of touch, hot and cold, but doesn't feel pain the same way people do. Remove biological needs and he's otherwise human. He still has emotional needs. He's also a huge flirt.

Various sketches of Herman outside of his puppet. His go-to form is an amorphous snake with a featureless pointed loop for a head. He can puff up to a very large size, or compact down to a tiny one. He can disassemble his puppet at the scenes- such as taking off his head -but he'd prefer not to. He likes his human illusion and when people see that it's hard for them to unseen it. He often wears himself as a scarf.

Herman is sentient yarn. He was gifted a magical puppet to pass as human. It's indistinguishable from flesh and blood. He wears it like a skin and can feel the world through it.
He loves people and he loves watching them figure out what he is-- when it wouldn't break their world view.

Herman (dragon) is a thing I do for fun and the focus of many doodles that aren't necessarily related. He comes in a variety of forms. Most often fleshy- but sometimes yarn.
A canon-comic version would probably happen in Faerie as a result of a 'curse', but I make no promises I'll do that.

My character Atli. A dark skinned man (African-Icelandic?) with long full hair that he keeps tied back and orange eyes. He wears a lot of wool coats and sweaters. In some of the sketches he's wearing a black snake with a pale underbelly and orange eyes- an avatar of himself. Atli is some kind of homecooked sleep paralysis demon/vampire who puts people to sleep with venom and appears in their dreams. In one spooky sketch his hair is levitating and he has blacked out eyes with red rings for pupils. (Actually this was a sketch of him hanging upside down from a ceiling, because he does that, but I liked it better right side up). There's art of him as a cat (black with orange eyes and a white patch on the chest, longhaired), and another of him eating coal as a snake. I've given his species several names with the help of some friendly folk on bluesky who are familiar with Icelandic. náttsnákur (nightsnake) náttköttur (nightcat) kolæta (coaleater, I think)

I'm not putting too much stock in this right now. I gave his species multiple names, because why not?
One will eventually stick.
It's a mishmash of sleep paralysis demon and the vampire lore I use for Herman's AU. He may still have vampire traits, dunno.

Olivier happily shoves more jade plants towards the man and says, "Take another! And another! Don't be shy. Make some more friends!" Fourth panel. The man is in a condo, carrying a very large assortment of plants in a plant holder. He says, "At least my condo won't be so lonely now."
