My feet are resting in the muck.
Mashapaug is where I lie.

I stare in astonishment at the leaf up there.
As it reaches the green muck I gasp with despair.
It starts with a ripple then a swirl.
We are cruel to the world.
The pollution spins, why not, why won't it just stop?
Why can't we just stop?

Roses are red
Water is blue
And yet green fills the pond.
Silence fills the empty air.
The wind whistles the brisk song.
Autumn has arrived waupianoohom starts.
The first laconic leaf has fallen
And I am rather parched.
