Sidonius Apollinaris This portal provides access to a wide range of materials supporting the study of Sidonius Apollinaris, a fifth-century Gallo-Roman aristocrat, high official, poet, letter writer, and bishop of Clermont (Auvergne) – a key figure in the transition of the later Roman Empire to the early Middle Ages and the dawn of Europe as we know it. It features an up-to-date bibliography, links to digitized manuscripts, an overview of editions, commentaries and translations, a variety of notes on reception, additions to the 2020 Edinburgh Companion to Sidonius Apollinaris, and more. De verkiezingen komen eraan. Onze politiek voelt de druk, maar weigert nog steeds effectieve maatregelen te nemen tegen Israël’s genocide en illegale bezetting. Kom in actie!

Today is the feast of Sidonius Apollinaris, d. in the late 5th c. I hadn't really been paying attention since admiring his poetry as an undegrad and was surprised how many MSS of his works there are. Let's look at some copies of his letters.
