Making conversion therapy the official NHS policy for trans youth

To be left dead by attacks is the natural state of the Middle Easterner, while in the Western culture (also Israel somehow) being killed is a major taboo.

Is this presumably using the list of national infrastructure from the 2023 Public Order act?

I have argued that lesbian and gay identity and communities are historically created, the result of a process of capitalist development that has spanned many generations. A corollary of this argument is that we are *not* a fixed social minority composed for all time of a certain percentage of the population. *There are more of us* than one hundred years ago, more than forty years ago. And there may very well be more gay men and lesbians in the future. Claims made by gays and nongays that sexual orientation is fixed at an early age, that large numbers of visible gay men and lesbians in society, the media, and the schools will have no influence on the sexual identities of the young, are wrong. Capitalism has created the material conditions for homosexual desire to express itself as a central component of some individuals lives; now, our political movements are changing consciousness, creating the ideological conditions that make it easier for people to make that choice.

To be sure, this argument confirms the worst fears and most rabid rhetoric of our political opponents. But our response must be to challenge the underlying belief that homosexual relations are bad, a poor second choice. We must not slip into the opportunistic defense that society need not worry about tolerating us, since only homosexuals become homosexuals

My attitude to this shit is basically encapsulated in these lines from the conclusion to John D'Emilio's "Capitalism and Gay Identity" (1983), which still go as hard as they ever did.

I believe "social contagion" is real in the sense that the easier and more normalised it is for people to identify as trans the more people will do it. I think this is a good thing.

even if it was objectively true that "there's no such thing as a transgender child" in the sense of being born trans and all trans experience was the result of external social influences, this wouldn't invalidate the legitimacy of trans identity in any way.

I try to bite my tongue and avoid expressing 'off message' opinions about trans liberation because I don't have so much skin in the game and I don't want to be recklessly inflammatory, but for the record...

The Financial Times app has developed a horrifying glitch which means that every time I open it it automatically loads up Janan Ganesh's latest Starmer apologism. This is basically my home screen now. Feels like targeted psychological persecution.

Our understanding is that the police's entire "intelligence" basis for the raid was "a social media post about targeting the rich" rather than specific plans for any protests actions.

what does the violence of immigration enforcement look like with denyer at its head? why have green parties globally shifted to the right wherever they've achieved power? what does it mean that they've no class basis to their support? does it affect the structural dependence of the state on capital?

I really wish y’all would learn the tiniest bit of Middle East history and dispense with the β€œIran is all a plot to distract from the Epstein Files” thesis.

Trump fully believes, as he said, that he can β€œkill someone on 5th Avenue” and get away with it.

Geopolitics is more complicated, folks.

Macron eyes up the chaotic actions of the US and calculates there might be an opening to elevate France as a superpower.

i wind up tweeting this basically every time there's an article like this, but the fundamental thing to me: ask yourself whether you earnestly believe there's more social pressure to be trans, or more social pressure to be cis. it's actually a super easy one!

Glanced at this and started idly doing the coalition maths and had the horrifying vision of a political scenario in which everyone is wooing the Liberal Democrats.
