A simple addition: While query strings (the stuff after the ? in URLs) are nowadays mainly used for source tracking, systems originally used this to know state or actions to be taken when loading the page. So if you removed the query string, it has no idea what it should be doing.

Yeah, the real lesson, as usual, is to be more mindful about how and why you're doing things. Give a moment's thought to the potential downstream consequences of what you are sharing. Posting about things that could end up as evidence in a court? Trim.
Showing love for creators? Leave it in.

I'm not saying this to discourage anyone from deleting the params if they want, at all. But it's worded in a way that to me it makes it seem like this is THE way that apps track your activity and. it isn't. Not the most relevant information anyway. So knowledge is power and all that.

Long links are annoying af, but big corpos already have your info from other things you do in their apps, I doubt they need to use THIS in particular for that lmao
