Can’t wait! 🤩 📚

I've for 40+ yrs had travelling privileges due to my nationality, with visa free travel to nearly all countries. Over the past year I've applied for more visas than in decades - now also to the UK. It feels cumbersome, but I remind myself this is nothing compared to what most people experience.

Look forward to catching up next time - with better weather too :)

I read this book by Jane Goodall when everything in my work felt so bleak. It’s a lovely story about how all aspects of life (human 🐒 and nature) and livelihoods are connected. It didn’t make me more hopeful but it did inspire me and was important food for thought. RIP

And hope that’s real transparency and not the standard PR “at least 1 billion” pharma and also often government (at least in Germany) keeps repeating…

I have a strange habit of reading @economist.com from back to front (and sometimes back-middle, then front-middle). Only got to the opening and this today… It’s good, but sanitized: where is the human toll? Gaza is not just rubble, it’s also a mass gaveyard.

It’s part of the autocracy 101 playbook, unfortunately. What starts with trans and then LGBTQI+ is quickly expanded to all women and girls. And the studies of eg Russia show that when autocracies go into war, this then includes rape and GBV as tactics of war.

Thanks, I'm quite bewildered too. Wellcome's CEO and Rockefeller seem to be moving into this latter space and direction, which is a good balance to the "legacy" fraction around and funded by Gates. Very few people seem to care what countries and communities need.
