One of the earliest photographs of cricket in India, showing British army officers playing on the parade ground in Kohat (now in Pakistan). This was taken by Major Keyes of the 1st Punjab Infantry between 1862 and 1864

Absolutely, but I don't see why, with NRR as an accepted tie break, number of wins should get preference - that's my point. The chances of two teams having the same NRR are effectively nil. So go NRR first and everyone would accept that. No system of tie breaks will ever be perfect, as you say.

Not a great rule that one! Basically, if your games get rained off your 2 points count less than another teams 2 points.πŸ€”

Alexandr Koblencs. Six Games And Some Pictures. A simple and unpretentious Sunday chess lunch today - more a roast chicken than a beef joint with Yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings. I hope you enjoy it. My friend https://www.chess.com/member/g...

Leonard has given the 'cleaned up version' of the Tolush - Botvinnik story🀣. ''You're fucked comrade Botvinnik!" is apparently a more literal translation.

I have to repeat what I said at this time last year ... Now that the season is done a thank you to all the BBC local radio commentators who have provided a quality backdrop to my summer and also to the increasingly professional county video streams which keep us in touch and entertained

Glad you like it. Pushing g2-g4-g5 in the Sicilian wasn't exactly new even at that time, but with the King in the centre it was pretty brave! See Lasker - Napier and Alekhine - Botvinnik for example. Cheers!

Night night sweet dreamies

Self-care isn’t only about bubble baths and treatos
It’s also about being kind to yourself, knowing when to rest, and gently letting go of what you no longer need.

Sleep softly and may your dreams be kind tonight.
