A huge thank you to everyone involved in rescuing, caring for, and rehabilitating kitties everywhere
Coincidentally, it also happens to be National βGive George Extra Treatosβ Day
One of the earliest photographs of cricket in India, showing British army officers playing on the parade ground in Kohat (now in Pakistan). This was taken by Major Keyes of the 1st Punjab Infantry between 1862 and 1864

Tragic news as Daniel Naroditsky, the popular U.S. grandmaster, commentator, creator, educator, and author, unexpectedly passed away on Sunday at the age of only 29. www.chess.com/news/view/gr...
20.10.2025 18:42 β π 87 π 21 π¬ 4 π 17Absolutely, but I don't see why, with NRR as an accepted tie break, number of wins should get preference - that's my point. The chances of two teams having the same NRR are effectively nil. So go NRR first and everyone would accept that. No system of tie breaks will ever be perfect, as you say.
20.10.2025 14:36 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Good Morning & welcome to marvellous marmalade Monday
New week.
New energy.
Speak kindly, walk confidently, and treat yourself like someone worth cheering for, because you are
Not a great rule that one! Basically, if your games get rained off your 2 points count less than another teams 2 points.π€

18.10.2025 15:47 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0GOTD. Still working on the Koblencs material. I like to include a 'fun game' in such blogs - this one fits the bill. Absolutely mad game!
18.10.2025 15:17 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Leonard has given the 'cleaned up version' of the Tolush - Botvinnik storyπ€£. ''You're fucked comrade Botvinnik!" is apparently a more literal translation.
17.10.2025 18:09 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Does that include Afghanistan in cricket?

17.10.2025 13:51 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0GOTD. A bit more Koblencs - the blog is work in progress. When I post it I will point out some of the tactics here.
17.10.2025 13:45 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Happy fish day George mate! Kippers for me. Yummy, but mind the bonesπΉπ. Having to work for it though. Redditch does Poets Day Friday, but I put in a full shift. Norm the Garden Guard Cat.

16.10.2025 21:40 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I have to repeat what I said at this time last year ... Now that the season is done a thank you to all the BBC local radio commentators who have provided a quality backdrop to my summer and also to the increasingly professional county video streams which keep us in touch and entertained
28.09.2025 14:55 β π 114 π 7 π¬ 6 π 2Glad you like it. Pushing g2-g4-g5 in the Sicilian wasn't exactly new even at that time, but with the King in the centre it was pretty brave! See Lasker - Napier and Alekhine - Botvinnik for example. Cheers!

Self-care isnβt only about bubble baths and treatos
Itβs also about being kind to yourself, knowing when to rest, and gently letting go of what you no longer need.
Sleep softly and may your dreams be kind tonight.
GOTD. Back doing some chess. Looking at Alexandr Koblencs - most famous as Tal's trainer. A neat game.
