I learned to drive with ice on the windshield until the heat from the defroster melted a tiny hole for me to see better. We Norwegians are pretty stupid and didn't learn the cardboard trick that those Germans and Russians did up by Minot. LOL !!!

I think I was in that bar one time in the 1970's while I was there visiting with the drummer of the band I played in for a few years while we were going to college in Mayville, ND. He ended up being a high school teacher there for a couple of years. You had an interesting job.

I'm living in Barcelona trying to get legally married to my Spanish fiance'. Even though she is a citizen of Spain, the Social Security healthcare system here is rejecting her because she has never worked for a company in Spain. She worked as an architect for several years in the Netherlands.

Many of the people who work in that 24 hr. care home called Hatton Prairie Village I knew when I was living there before moving to CA in 1986. That place has won many awards for being one of the best care homes in the U.S. so Mom is in good hands.

"Why not, Minot" must have been the expression you Air Force airmen needed to help comfort yourselves after you first landed at that airbase. Grand Forks AB isn't much better but at least it's more populated in the Red River Valley near two of the bigger cities like G.F. and Fargo.

What base were you stationed. I lived in Grand Forks, ND for awhile and grew up on a farm 40 miles away near Hatton. I also knew people from Minot and have been there several times, too.

That photo was taken in 2015 while I was still preaching eternal wisdom in the streets of Campbell, CA. where I raised two of my sons since 1986. I live in Barcelona with my Spanish fiance' and they still live in the U.S. Two sons live in CA and one in Idaho.

I understand your feelings about being so far away from where you were comfortable at. I left N.D. when I got married the second time to live in San Jose, CA. in 1986. We got divorced in 2001. A year later I met Lydie online and I moved to Barcelona after my oldest son got married June 1st, 2003.

Hello Laura. I fully understand how difficult it is to live so far away from our sons and daughters and their families. It makes it easier now with video chat but that only works if they are willing to take time to do that. My youngest son and I use FB messenger often but only on his way to work.

I let my son and his wife operate on my neck by taking out a cyst with a razor blade after I had them put ice on it for awhile to keep me from experiencing any pain. That's how you do it if you have no health insurance. The blue tape is all my son had to tape the gauze on the open wound. #doctors

I stayed at the home of my step brother while I was back in North Dakota visiting my Mother in March of 2017. I got up early each morning to make the 15 mile drive to Hatton where she lives in a 24 hour care home. I graduated from the high school in that town in 1972. #sunrise #photography #family
