Severe solar storms could hit Earth, space forecasters say. Here's how to see auroras The vibrant displays could be visible across much of the northern U.S., and as far south as Alabama and Northern California.

Tomorrow's space weather experience could be ~exciting~ if it causes high geomagnetic induced currents in the power grid.

"When fast-moving particles and plasma slam into Earthโ€™s magnetic field, they can temporarily disrupt the power grid."

What to do about someone who defrauds women and says he canโ€™t stop doing that? Even when out of jail and supposedly monitored he did that. And he is very likely to become seriously violent against women too. A very tricky situation.

Jeff Kent is a serial conman who defrauds women. Does he deserve the harshest punishment in Canadian criminal law? Jeff Kent is a romance fraudster who bilks women out of their life savings. An Alberta judge just deemed him a dangerous offender.

My latest long read: Jeff Kent is a serial conman who bilks vulnerable women out of their money. Heโ€™s the first fraudster in Canadian history to be deemed a dangerous offender and locked up indefinitely.

Heโ€™s also someone who used to regularly call me from jail

BREAKING: Alberta Becomes First Province in Canadian History to Use Notwithstanding Clause to Crush Strike Rights In an unprecedented move, the United Conservative Party (UCP) government under Premier Danielle Smith has announced that it will invoke the notwithstanding clause to force 51,000 striking teachers bac...

The #UCP sets another precedent. They invoked the notwithstanding clause, forcing 51,000 #StrikingTeachers back to work. They also shut down most debate on the bill.

This suspends the teachersโ€™ #Charter right to strikeโ€”a direct attack on democracy & on workers.

For every critical public service, like HC & educ, UCPโ€™s 2nd motto is โ€œDefund, Criticize,Privatizeโ€.

๐Ÿ’” Taken from the page of a heartbroken Alberta teacherโ€ฆ

Thereโ€™s so much misinformation right now โ€” and it hurts to see teachers being torn apart in ads paid for with our own tax dollars.
Hereโ€™s what I see really happening ๐Ÿ‘‡

We were offered a bad contract. We voted NO.

The same offer came back (plus a โ€œfree COVID vaccineโ€). We voted NO again โ€” 90% of us.

We gave the government lots of time to come back with something better. They didnโ€™t.

When the strike began, they refused to meet for six days.

When they finally did, we brought a fair proposal โ€” they offered nothing back.

Teachers had nothing to vote on.

They told us to โ€œgo back to workโ€ (after locking us out).

They still refuse to talk about the two biggest issues:
๐Ÿ‘‰ Class size caps
๐Ÿ‘‰ Classroom complexity

๐Ÿ“Š Letโ€™s fact check Dani:

Statement: โ€œThe ATA rejected their offer.โ€
โŒ FALSE โ€“ The government didnโ€™t put an offer forward.

Statement: โ€œThe ATA hasnโ€™t sent an offer.โ€
โŒ FALSE โ€“ The ATA has sent many offers โ€” all rejected outright. TEBA has not put forward a single counteroffer.

Statement: โ€œThe ATA needs to come back to the table.โ€
โŒ FALSE โ€“ The ATA has been at the table. The government/TEBA is stalling. They spent over a week โ€œreviewingโ€ the last proposal and still didnโ€™t respond with anything.

I know everyone โ€” myself included โ€” wants nothing more than to be back in the classroom.
Many have said their childโ€™s learning is being deeply impacted by missing these days of instruction. I understand that.
But the truth is, the learning environment the Alberta government has created in classrooms impacts childrenโ€™s education every single day of the school year.

If these days of disruption can help correct the conditions our students are learning in, the learning gains ahead will be exponential โ€” for months and years to come.

Something has to change.

Weโ€™re fighting for kids, schools, and the future of public education in Alberta.

Before you outright believe the ads โ€” ask a teacher.
Weโ€™re not the enemy.

The ATA has presented many offers, while TEBA has not made a single counter-offer. The government refuses to address class size caps at the bargaining table, the major point of the negotiation. They instead threaten to legislate teachers back to work and strip them of their charter rights.
