It should seem a bit worrying that a whole industry that is purportedly directing the future of humanity would be blindly guided by people who have billions to make with every public declaration that they make.

My impression from the AI news I get online is that this whole industry is orienting itself around future predictions voiced by AI CEOs, who seem to be seen as sages of some kind.

Doesn't the obvious fact that these people HAVE STAKES in what they are predicting bother anyone?

Is it any less scary that we get eugenist white-supremacist ads not (primarily, at least) because brands want to promote such values or because their public adheres to them, but simply because our whole media economy formally incentivizes and rewards this behavior?

Right-wingers are saying the "great genes" ad is just a normal ad. Left-wingers saying its purpose is to advance racist ideology and that it should be critiqued or suffer "backlash" for that. Both seem to ignore the obvious fact that the ad exists because it predicts and surfs these reactions.

It was also a bit worrying how he didn't challenge Rogan on absolutely anything, from factually incorrect to complete conspiracy theories.

I understand it's probably strategic, but at which point is it too much?

Listening to Bernie Sanders' interview with Joe Rogan and half of it is them agreeing that the problem with automation is that, even with UBI, it takes away MEANING from workers' lives.

People do not derive meaning from their mindless 9 to 5. We need leftists who understand that.
