Olympic Village is finally getting its school.
It should not take decades to break ground on any promised amenities let alone a neighbourhood school.
No more delays. We need massive reinvestments in social infrastructure in neighbourhoods across Vancouver.

Do you think this could be built for non-market housing? I work for a local community land trust interested in this type of built form, but I'm not sure if the pro forma would work for a non-market rental or co-op.

To any Democrat who ever said about any issue, "Maybe if we agree with Republicans just this far, they'll stop there," remember that you were wrong, it was obvious at the time, and you really should never believe that again about any issue, ever.

Hilary Knight got the question re: that phone call and the laughter at the Torrent presser. Her answer:
25.02.2026 23:48 β π 1878 π 503 π¬ 16 π 77After getting one side of the story, media members, including yours truly, headed upstairs to the lobby outside the Mayorβs offices in hopes of speaking with Lenny Zhou before council went into a private session after lunch. Justin McElroy stopped an elevator full of city councillors and staff for us by putting his foot in the door. We saw Mayor Sim (who said he didnβt have time to talk), lots of senior city staff (βwhatβs going on,β they whispered), and most of the other councillors, but Zhou never showed. The effort didnβt bear much fruit, but itβs a window into the wiliness and collegiality of the cityβs journalists, who work in a unique grey zone between competitors and comrades.
In the Vancity Lookout newsletter (which you should all subscribe to!) @natevl.bsky.social records a nice moment of #vanpoli journalism co-operation. Hope your foot is ok @jmcelroy.bsky.social!
