Today should be your 38th birthday..
When you lose your son you lose more than a child you lose a piece of your heart and your joy. Life is forever altered, and nothing can ever fill that space. Yet in my soul, he remains, my precious boy, forever loved. His laughter, his smile, and his love are woven into who I am. My love for him will never fade. Yor are my pride and my joy - you've made a change that cannot be broken..

If your perspective is that Canada should only voice support for international law when it has an narrow self interest in doing so, we're no longer discussing international law.

Vancouver council paves way for new school in Olympic Village Vancouver city council voted Thursday night in favour of a move that will allow for an elementary school to be built in Olympic Village.

Olympic Village is finally getting its school.

It should not take decades to break ground on any promised amenities let alone a neighbourhood school.

No more delays. We need massive reinvestments in social infrastructure in neighbourhoods across Vancouver.

Do you think this could be built for non-market housing? I work for a local community land trust interested in this type of built form, but I'm not sure if the pro forma would work for a non-market rental or co-op.

Some of those apologies you linked to don't actually say the words "I'm sorry"... Not a knock on you, but on the players' inability to actually acknowledge the hurt they caused. Did they listen to Hilary Knight's comments, I wonder?

One of the main talking points for school opponents was the increase in traffic. Ironically I biked here with my 8-year old and they all drove

Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim started false claim councillor 'handed out illegal drugs' Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim accused city Coun. Sean Orr of "handing out illegal drugs on Christmas Day" in a briefing for Chinese-speaking reporters.

I'm headed up to City Hall for the vote on the Olympic Village school and very curious what the vibes will be like in the chamber...

To any Democrat who ever said about any issue, "Maybe if we agree with Republicans just this far, they'll stop there," remember that you were wrong, it was obvious at the time, and you really should never believe that again about any issue, ever.

"I thought the joke was distasteful & unfortunate, & I think the way women are represented, it's a great teaching point to really shine light on how women should be championed for their amazing feats. Now I have to sit in front of you and explain someone else's behavior? It's not my responsibility."

After getting one side of the story, media members, including yours truly, headed upstairs to the lobby outside the Mayor’s offices in hopes of speaking with Lenny Zhou before council went into a private session after lunch. Justin McElroy stopped an elevator full of city councillors and staff for us by putting his foot in the door.

We saw Mayor Sim (who said he didn’t have time to talk), lots of senior city staff (β€œwhat’s going on,” they whispered), and most of the other councillors, but Zhou never showed. The effort didn’t bear much fruit, but it’s a window into the wiliness and collegiality of the city’s journalists, who work in a unique grey zone between competitors and comrades.
