the difference being that "intimidation" isn't actually against the rules, whereas pushing a woman and causing damage to her camera but not to the point of prosecution clearly is...

agreed but if, say Portugal were to do it, the result would be the same. It's the other "stuff" that needs to be taken into account, but as I have always said, KAN have broken no contest rules - not one - what they and their associates have done is distasteful but not DQ worthy. Thats a problem.

I don’t think they would. The DCMS committee is nominally independent but hey. Who the hell knows!!

As someone said on one of my website posts this week, it’s a broadcaster contest not a popularity contest for politicians!

And they are right. Delegations haven’t helped by posting voting numbers in other countries for years on “the socials”. The rules have been bent and have not been updated to cope. That’s the fault of successive reference groups.

Or were they? The call loggers stop logging after 20 calls. Granted if you’ve got a bajillion lines it renders it moot…. But you and me could vote from different numbers. They have just scaled it up. It’s a loophole that needed closing years ago.

Which of course it wouldn’t be because the deadline would be after the general assembly! It’s a game of ifs and buts and maybes.

Televote “cheating” in the way they’ve done it isn’t actual cheating. It’s not against the rules. Countries always use esc as soft power and you can’t tell me they don’t. You also can’t choose your own infraction (cf Croatia 1993). It’s more nuanced than black and white.

And if peace doesn’t work, which is likely, there is still that chance to remove rather than to act early. All this is is a move to give more time.

You’d still have that open vote if they table one. All they are saying is that they’d rather have it in person as opposed to via zoom. I also think it’s to “give peace a chance”, whetever that looks like.
