I forgot this happened and I think it inflicted some kind of psychic damage on me to remember.

Yesterday seems to have been unique anyway. It was super bright in Denver on the 11th, and nothing now. So, I guess you at least know the clouds didn't ruin it for you?

Like, there's actual juicy stuff in this leak, and it's actually bad to focus on the parts where Epstein speculates about famous liberals who hypothetically he thinks we would work with him.

A post by Matt Seybold stating "A whole lotta liberals who were willing to take Epstein’s money turning off their phones tonight." The post accompanies an image of a very long text describing many possible pairings of 32 celebrities, many seemingly random, introduced by a note stating that 23 have agreed "in principle" to appear on the proposed show.

I understand the heady rush of reading Epstein's emails, but this is a statement that 23 out of 32 people agreed to this hypothetical meeting "in principle", which is another way of saying that no one explicitly agreed at all. Epstein simply believes that most would be on board.

One thing they don't mention is ethnic groups within a country. E.g. at 5'6" I am pretty short for a U.S. male..., but not that unusual for a Latino.

Maybe it’s just the Humanities professor in me, but let it be noted that events of today (ahem) have demonstrated the value of being able to assess a large volume of qualitative data and do careful textual analysis with deep attention to context.

When Colorado had ballot measures to allow more beer and then wine in grocery stores, the biggest argument against was that small liquor stores and breweries would make less if competing with grocery chains. Not sure I 100% buy the brewery part, but at least they were honest that it was about money.

After I saw this post I drove out to Standley Lake and took some photos. Glad I did!

Probably would have been better with less light pollution, but still had some flare-ups that made it really bright and colorful. I didn't manage to see much the last time it reached this far south, so this was my first time getting a good look.

Lower emissions mean the arc of temperature increase has curved downward over the past 10 years. If countries stick to current policies, the global average temperature is projected to rise by 2.5 to 2.9 degrees Celsius by the end of the century.

The claim that “emissions have come down” in this @nytimes.com @sominisengupta.bsky.social article on where we are ten years post-Paris is FALSE.

Global emissions were at an all-time high in 2024.

As it stands this claim is misinformation. They need to issue a correction!

I thought people were overreacting to the rude label but mine was set to hide and not warn and I didn't even know it. Go check your moderation settings and make sure that they're what you want.

It's funny, I have a 14 year old Wacom that my husband just found in a box of my old stuff this week and started using. That comparatively very old one works just fine!

I manually block people for the slightest reason. I've blocked people who are nice and whose views I agree with, simply because they engage with varieties of Discourse that I find too stressful to want to see on a regular basis. Someone's probably done the same to me. It's fine!

Feel a little guilty about this, but I have trouble even keeping straight the names of relatively local American Indian tribes.

None. I'm very bad at remembering names anyway, and other than seeing you on the internet or very occasionally hearing something mentioned by one of the scientists I work with, Madagascar just doesn't come up in regular conversation or any media I consume.
