Tim Hodgetts DL attended the Swanshurst School Veterans Day. Year 8 spent time with Veterans, in small groups, talking and learning about their experiences. An excellent day.

Mark Heywood DL was pleased to present Lizzie Downes with her Young Active Citizen Award Medal. Lizzie is one of 4 winners who make such a terrific difference in their communities.

VE Day 80th Anniversary was celebrated across the West Midlands yesterday. The Lord-Lieutenant joined
the High Sheriff of West Midlands and @BrumLordMayor
at the Hall of Memory in Birmingham to remember those who served to protect us and bring peace.

It's VE Day, the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe.
To mark this day we are delighted to share a poem written by Tim Hodgetts DL, written from the imagined perspective of those celebrating Victory in Europe on 8th May 1945. #VEDay

The Lord-Lieutenant is looking forward to hosting our carol service next week in Coventry, celebrating and thanking everyone for the care, service and commitment that we give to one another throughout the year. It is a time to reflect and acknowledge the empathy and kindness of those around us.

Today, the Lord-Lieutenant received HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh who attended the commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Birmingham Pub Bombings on behalf of His Majesty The King.

Such good news that 19 groups across the West Midlands have won the King's Award for Voluntary Service. Now for us to start organising our big celebration that will take place in April.
