OK, here’s my real beef with your plan. Right now we have voters who are engaged enough in the political process to care about it. We also have shitloads on money for commercials with questionable or blatant untruths and appeals to emotions.
Compulsory voting would magnify those impacts.

The President wants to use the military to crack down on Americans who are exercising their 1st Amendment rights to oppose him. I can’t think of a better reason to insist on exercising those rights.

There are exceptions, to be sure. But freedom of speech includes not voting as a statement.
I blame those who sat out the election a lot for Harris’ loss. They allowed bigots and sadistic folks to have a say in our elections they should not have had.
But I blame the MAGATs more.

Hate to have to say that, but forced voting is anti-democratic. Happens a lot in non-democratic countries.

This is how our government has been corrupted:

1) Donors give huge sums to elect politicians to office
2) Elected officials rewrite rules in the donors' favor
3) Donors make huge profit
4) Repeat

We must get big money out of politics.

It is the root of our dysfunction.
