“Just leave” doesn’t work because things don’t get easier when you leave they get harder and scarier and more dangerous and unpredictable and after struggling so long all ppl want is the opposite of those things regardless of what it is costing us.

When you’re in abusive relationships the peace you crave so much comes when they’re acting good to you, so you crave doing whatever pleases them so everything is good and there is peace. Leaving doesn’t feel that way. It feels dangerous and scary. That’s why people stay.
