to shit on New Trek. I'm actually enjoying most of the New Trek I've consumed - Strange New Worlds, Discovery, and Starfleet Academy.
You can't expect something new to be the same as something old.

If people are going into the new Star Trek shows expecting them to be copies/repeats of the originals, they're not going to enjoy it.
New Trek is modernized for younger audiences. And by that, I mean the millenial generation. Original Trek is still wonderful, don't get me wrong, but there's no need
