Pulp slay Washington DC on the second night of their North American tour. A stacked setlist, lots of laughter and an abundance of love for the band.

Pulp in Dublin was outrageous fun! The band’s new songs are bedding-in well and we enjoyed a rare outing for Dishes.

On this day in 1994 Pulp performed at Leicester University Queen’s Hall.

One reviewer wrote: “The highlight of the evening came with new track ‘His N Hers’, during which Jarvis handed his microphone around the crowd, asking ‘What frightens you?’ Answers ranged from ‘rejection’ to ‘Depeche Mode’”.

BBC Four deliver the goods once again with their Top Of The Pops re-runs. Here’s Pulp performing (well, miming) ‘Help The Aged’, originally broadcast on 7 November 1997.

Pulp’s Common People was first played by John Peel on this day in 1995. To mark this 30th anniversary I’ve charted the airplay that each of the four Different Class singles gained on UK radio during 1995-96.

On this day in 1998 the NME landed on the newsstands with Pulp (well, Jarvis) gracing the cover.

Released yesterday: a vinyl record collaboration between Wes Anderson and Jarvis Cocker. It features ‘Aline’ from the film ‘The French Dispatch’ and ‘Petey’s Song’ from ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’.

Limited to 1,000 copies and released by the Vinyl Factory.

Seen yesterday at the Greenwich Music & Video Exchange. The sleeve tears are a reminder to store these records in a protective outer cover!

Stopped by the ‘For Your Pleasure’ exhibition at Liverpool’s Open Eye Gallery to admire these Donald Milne portraits. I can’t tell whether I admire Jarvis’ pose, his shirt fabric or the carpet pattern the most. They’re on display until 9 March.

On this day in 1995 the NME’s annual Brat Awards ceremony took place in London. These are the categories that Pulp featured in. Pulp didn’t win any awards (boo!) but I doubt they cared because they’d just finished recording an exciting new song called Common People.

Very fond of Oliver Jeffers. I’d not thought about Cocker doing the music.
