Sewed a last minute tree skirt! I usually have a real tree, but this year I opted for a fake tree and the base was not very festive haha

This is a free quilt pattern from Jordan Fabrics that I’d recommend to advanced beginners if they’re ok learning the directions via video.

Finished the Saguaro top! I love the linen and the design of this pattern. My one complaint is it’s a little difficult to get over my shoulders since there’s no zipper. #sewing

Nearly done with my Saguaro top! I am doing bias bound seam finishes so that’s taking quite a while, but I am loving the result.

Last two things are inserting the elastic (my least favorite) and finishing the armholes #sewingproject #saguaroset #linen

Saguaro set test fit! I need to add an inch of length to the top and that’s it 😌

If you remember I was working on my pants sloper a few weeks ago to make the bottoms for this set. What I didn’t realize is I only bought enough fabric for the top, but I’ll sew the pants next. #sewing #sewingpattern

Bottom sample: took in a little more above my bottom and right along the widest point.

I also did some alterations to the front, but they were pretty minor.

Finally finished my pants sloper and here are all the alterations I did to get there.
Top sample: I had to add more fabric to make a full seat adjustment

Middle sample: made my waist darts bigger to make the waist smaller. Also took in fabric under my bottom bc it was a bit saggy after the FSA

Thank you! I have one more adjustment to make and then hopefully I’m good to go.

I know how you feel! A FSA isn’t talked about as much as a FBA, but it’s sooo helpful, I want pants that fit!

Today my husband woke me up by feeding me a cheese curd and I couldn't be more in love 🤣

I forgot how much corn there is in Wisconsin. My mom just claimed the farm stand was "almost out" of corn bc there were only a few dozen ears left.

She also bought a dozen ears for a cookout with 6 people 🤣

Handmade swimsuit in deep purple

Behold: a swimsuit I made! I rarely go swimming, but I figured it's better to be prepared than not. Also, I purchased the pattern 3 years ago sooooo yaaaa 🤣

This morning I lived out my millennial (liberal) homesteading dream: I ate eggs from my chickens with homemade yogurt and blackberry jam. The blackberries came from my yard. Wheeeeeee

The gluten free toast was from the store and is the next thing I need to figure out making.

underwear! that I made! I used my block for these, which I would recommend making for yourself if you plan on sewing lots of underwear.

Today is the day I attempt to edit a sewing video I filmed in August of 2024 🤣 clearly I am not a fan of editing #sewing #contentcreation

Now that I know how to sew, I cannot imagine the pain the seamstress must have felt when I brought in my fully beaded dress to be altered for a highschool dance. #sewing

What I've actually done:
-go to the vet
-get my own blood work done
-organize a chicken pick-up
-organize a dog drop-off (we're getting a livestock guardian dog)
-attend my knitting group
-go cycling

I really enjoy sewing, but I cannot stand a poorly designed pattern. I'm nearly done dealing with the most recent one I've come across. 😭 #sewing #memadewardrobe

Being an ingredient household is a lot of work 😭
Today I transformed:
Zucchini --> zucchini bread
Chard, carrots, garlic --> bean soup
Kale, cucumber, kohlrabi leaves --> juice

All from my CSA veggies, so I'm getting good mileage!

My dress is finished and now it feels special, because of the time and skills I learned along the way. I truly think if everyone could sew a single garment in their wardrobe, they would view all their clothes differently and treat them with care and not as something disposable. #sewing #memade

There are so many steps to creating a well fitted garment even after the pattern drafting stage: alterations, test fitting, more alterations, learning new sewing techniques, and finally sewing the garment, that even something simple can turn into many hours of work for just ONE piece of clothing.
