The primary healer in my Extinction Curse party is the fighter. He is obscenely overcompetent at it

Spellcasters often have a 'third action problem'. Most spells are 2 actions and they might not know what to do with the third one. Skills are helpful here, too, but there's definitely a tactical advantage to casting a spell without the attack trait and then blasting someone with a ranged weapon

Another important one for combat is to have options that are not attacks. You don't really want to be making 3 strikes on your turn because the Multiple Attack Penalty is brutal. Class abilities aside, this is where skills can really come in clutch (if the action doesn't have the attack trait)

Actually specifically going to mention Medicine here. Having at least one person on the team with high Medicine and some associated skill feats (battle medicine, ward medic and continual recovery are the big hitters. Assurance helps, too) is fantastic for healing without using any resources

Another one off the top of my head is that skills are not loosely defined like in 5e. The chapter on skills has a ton of information on specific things your skills can do, including in the different modes of gameplay (encounters, exploration, and downtime)

No I absolutely understand. Trying to get people to play anything but D&D is extremely difficult, even if it's not even particularly different like Pathfinder!

I don't know it off the top of my head, but I wrote up a list somewhere of what sections of the Player Core you want to read to get the best grip on the rules without having to read it cover to cover, as well as one for just getting the essentials

For your GM: the GM screen is fantastic and I use it even when I'm running online. Also the maths for encounter building is accurate and once you've learned it, it's very easy to build and adjust encounters. It can be a bit obtuse to look at, but I can break it down if they're interested

If you've used wikis or SRDs for your games before this you will not believe how much better the 2e sites for Nethys are. Everything's on there and it's SO easy to search and learn through it

A broad set of knowledge skills on your team helps you identify the best course of action. For example, taking an action to Recall Knowledge and learn which of an enemy's saves is lowest could potentially turn the same result on the die from a Success against your spell to a a Critical Failure

When I say cooperating I'm talking about like a high-athletics character tripping an enemy so their team's rogue gets free sneak attacks (instead of spending all your actions attacking), flanking enemies, using demoralise or bon mot, sticking near enough for your Champion to get their reaction etc

Hi, I run PF2 games! One of my biggest pieces of advice for Pathfinder is that a cohesive team is far more effective than a group characters who are individually strong, but aren't cooperating well! Also getting a reaction that you can use frequently is a big buff to your character
