📝 Five important recommendations to root '(unin)habitability' research and policy-making in climate justice - including the recognition of people's rights to stay and to adapt in places abruptly labelled as '(soon-to-be-)uninhabitable'.

I am deeply honoured and humbled to receive this prize in environmental humanities from @acls1919.bsky.social.
Let us collectively bring critical social science examinations—rooted in history, politics, and context, and problematizing normative discourses—to the global public.

12 UC Berkeley students' visas restored by ICE in nationwide reversal
At UC Berkeley, 12 students have had their status restored today after 23 were terminated since April 4.
One of the happiest updates I’ve written since I started following this story. 12 students back in status and maybe more to come. Across the country, students are saying their SEVIS is back.

RFK Jr. forces out Peter Marks, FDA’s top vaccine scientist
In his resignation letter, Marks rebuked Kennedy for seeking “subservient confirmation of his misinformation and lies” about vaccines.
“We’re failing to appreciate the people and institutions who’ve propelled these remarkable advances, undermining them without offering credible alternatives, and risking the loss of future breakthroughs that many patients are counting on,” said @scottgottliebmd.bsky.social

These fuckers are trying to tear Middle East Studies up by the floorboard because they don't want people knowing the truth about Palestine

UPDATE: Hours after filing our amended petition, a federal judge ordered Rümeysa Öztürk can't be removed from the U.S. until further court order. The government must respond to the amended petition by Tuesday at 5pm.
This is a critical next step. We won’t stop until Rümeysa is free.

This is a powerful moment for intersectionality. There’s more of us than there are of them.

“many faculty members voiced concerns about …a ‘lack of proportionality between the relatively small percentage of the lost income versus the large 35% cut in [graduate] programs.’”
Congratulations to admin. Give them lemons, by god they’ll make lemonade and then try to drown the humanities in it

Help please! I used to take the most amazing picture with a tiny little Canon PowerShot. I want a powerful camera with an amazing Auto function that is tiny and discrete and fits into a really small lady's handbag without needing separate lenses or its own camera bag. Any recommendations? Thank you!

Direct Economic Contributions
NIH directly supports the economy through investments in research institutions and job formation.
Executive wants to frame the NIH indirects cut as $4B in savings.
But given that NIH returns $2.5 on every $1 investment, this would actually cost US economy a net $6 BILLION (per year!). Not to mention the human costs of wrecking education and research sectors and the communities they serve.
