I take it more literally than that actually and argue that by understanding the organizing principles (such as context) that guide neural state space, we can purposely manipulate those things to improve our cognition.

Me using neural state space to teach people how to improve their lives.

BTW, this is data from our lab showing the brain keeping track of time, so it's a literal neural timeline behind me.

We are a rich enough country to be funding 37% of all basic research proposals, not just considering "the best" 37% and then maybe only funding 12% in the end.

A crappy, ugly curiosity for which there's no clear purpose, oh and it comes dripping with confusing aggressive political messaging. Really, what's not to love?

Thanks, Nicole. It was a big challenge and definitely a step outside my comfort zone.
It was in California though, but it's a great idea to have one in Nevada.

Been working on this the last couple of months and last night was finally the night! Can't wait to show everyone when it's ready.

So grateful to the organizers and all the other speakers. #TedXTorreyPines was a huge success last night.

If you work at the intersection of computational neuroscience and machine learning, consider applying for this postdoc position (January 2027 start date):

Extremely saddened by the unnecessary demolition of the @washingtonpost.com. What a massive blow for the Metro area, our country, and the whole world. Really fucked up.

I don't know if anyone has heard about it, but there was some really big news last night. I watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail with my 12yo (13 in 2 days!) last night and I saw multiple belly laughs and he stayed to watch the whole thing!
