We brought some of the heaters out again as the weather suddenly got colder. There is some light snow but we got ahead of it and everyone in Flatwoods is snug for the night. Goodnight Appalachia, you did good today.

Whatever happened to that trader with red hair, she mostly wore a hood and maybe goggles? I know she had the best kept fingernails I'd ever seen. I miss trading with her. Oh she had this charming accent, I'd listen to her read a maintenance manual. I hope she is doing okay.

Where did all this corn come from!? I appreciate the donation but this is like a lot of corn. Thank you. We are up to 800 ears and counting.

This cold is biting but we got boilers running overnight so the radiators in Flatwoods can keep the folks warm. Boilers also help with hot beverages and soup making. So safe out there.

I sleep with my back to her and I respect my boss. She has great pillows.

Impromptu bedtime story reading tonight. Temperatures dropped quickly and people were huddled up until we could get heat going. Sharing bunks is helpful but kind of scary when you gotta bunk with the boss.

I told Antlers a joke and she almost laughed. Almost.

Bunk house is full. I'm sleeping in the offices tonight. Get some rest and see you out there Appalachia.

There is a Multiscope just sitting in the road.. this feels like a trap.

They apologized for the attempt and said that wouldn't be the last I saw of them. Weird.

I was walking on a trail near the Alpine River Cabins when I really had to sneeze. So I did and then I heard a "Bless You" from behind a turned over 4x4 further down the trail. It was three guys, one in an incomplete power armor suit, prepared to ambush me.

Okay, so my schedule should be clear until February. Then I have to contend with Fasnacht and Valentine's Day. Let us hope for a quiet month till then.

I dozed off in the CO's office space after hitting the food line. She woke me up about an hour later and we went over the debriefing. I'm putting in my supply requests for patrols tomorrow then going to bed.

I arrived in Flatwoods this morning as those granted New Years Eve leave returned. I'm tired, I'm hungry, and I haven't seen my CO yet. Happy New Year.

76F would probably say something about the cold not bothering her or something quippy but I will ask her next time I speak with her.

(I'm taking questions that will be answered in character. So let me hear them.)

I finally finished my first leg of the medical patrols that 76F and I have to split for New Years. I'm camping in the trees for tonight then moving through the rest of the settlements along 88 followed to 81 South then back to Flatwoods. Stay safe out there.

Flatwoods has calmed down while it prepares for New Year's celebration. Regular breakfast service and cooking courses resume tomorrow. If there are any requests please see the staff at the Flatwoods Church.

As is tradition, I read to the kids and kids at heart on Christmas Eve in the church of Flatwoods. Others from the community played music or put on plays, I read. Like any good storyteller I did the voices, I rose from my seat, and I had a wonderful time. I hope you did too.
