Photo shows a Thanksgiving cactus with red/white blooms in a black pot sitting in front of a large window.
This holiday cactus is over 25 years old. It was passed down to me from my Mémère, and 12 years ago I drove it across country from Vermont to California. It blooms its heart out every fall/winter.

A terracotta pot filled with a dense cluster of very slender, upright green leaves belonging to Aloe bellatula. Dozens of thin flower stalks rise far above the foliage, each tipped with coral-orange tubular blooms. The plant is outdoors on a sunny day with a bright blue sky and soft white clouds in the background.

This oneβs from Madagascar, and I love how slender the leaves are on this species.

I spotted this Phalaenopsis orchid root growing with two tipsβkind of looks like a little hoof.

A small, brightly colored dyeing poison dart frog (Dendrobates tinctorius sits on a textured piece of reddish-brown wood. The frog has turquoise blue legs with dark spots, a cream-colored side with black blotches, and a bold black-and-cream striped pattern along its head and back. Its skin appears smooth and slightly reflective.
The frog sits quiet, yet the whole pond listens.

A tall glass terrarium filled with a lush mix of epiphytic bromeliads and air plants. The largest plants have long, arched leaves in shades of bright green with soft pink highlights. Several spiky gray-green Tillandsia cluster around driftwood pieces, clinging naturally. Below them, jewel orchids with dark leaves and fine red-gold veining grow in the shaded lower layer. The tank is positioned on a dark wood stand, and warm lighting from above gives the display a tropical, humid atmosphere.

A top-down view of a double-headed Mammillaria cactus growing in gravel. The two rounded heads are covered in dense white radial spines with longer yellowish spines around the tips. The two heads sit closely together, giving the appearance of a pair of owl-like eyes. The surrounding ground is coarse tan gravel.

Close-up of a young Oreocereus trollii cactus, also known as Old Man of the Andes. The cactus has a ribbed green body covered in long white hairlike spines and orange central spines, glowing in warm reddish sunlight against coarse desert gravel. The spines create a halo effect, giving it an aged, wispy appearance despite its small size.
