Went to see @piperformissouri.bsky.social last night. She was awesome, of course. The Q&A was interesting as well, but one thing I noticed jumped out: every man who asked a question prefaced it with his own "expertise" regarding the subject of the question. None of the women did.

James Talarico is cute. Cute like: if I didn't know that Opie grew up to be Ron Howard, I could believe that he grew up to be James Talarico.

Jesse Jackson appeared on Sesame Street in 1973.

During his appearance, he led a group of children in reciting his well-known poem β€œI Am Somebody,” a message focused on self-worth and empowerment

The segment became one of the most memorable celebrity appearances from the early seasons of the show.

I love all of this, but this especially made me smile:
"Any work completed with the use of AI is absolutely and completely unwelcome."

MN Arts Organizations Rise and Respond: Donation Links The Jerome Foundation was founded by Jerome Hill (1905-1972), a noted filmmaker, composer and painter, and awards grants to emerging artists in Hill’s home state of Minnesota and New York City, where he spent much of his creative life.

In solidarity with our Twin Cities colleagues, we’re sharing β€œRise and Respond” donation links to MN arts organizations. Courtesy of Eleanor Savage and the Jerome Foundation.

Kinda weird that the first name of one of the sponsors is misspelled (assuming that's the former finance chair of the RNC).

At some point, it'll stop blowing my mind that People is now a publication with serious reporting.

My vision of the perfect #SuperBowl, a thread (cont.):
3/3 Overtime: repeat above until word reaches players that NBC is no longer televising. Patriots take a knee in their own end zone for a safety. Seahawks win 2-0.

My vision of the perfect #SuperBowl, a thread:
1/3 Kickoff: the receiving team catches the ball, then the 22 players each walk into positions to spell out FUCK ICE. They stay there until they get word that NBC has cut to commercial. Player with the ball takes a knee.

I suspect the largest group of people that the SAVE Act would disenfranchise is married women who took their husbands' last names. Welcome to The Handmaid's Tale.

The Week’s 10 Biggest Funding Rounds: xAI Leads As 2026 Is Off To A Brisk Start The first full week of 2026 brought us a whopping $20 billion new funding round for Elon Musk’s xAI. We also counted multiple other rounds of more than $100 million.

Accidentally clicked through to another link on that page that showed 10 biggest AI investments. There's a decent amount of medical in there, but xAI is #1 at 20 billion. None of the other top 10 crack a billion. news.crunchbase.com/venture/bigg...

Based on $$$, it certainly appears to be the largest part of it. But I'd be delighted to be proven wrong.

Fair question. I had to look up AlphaFold. Can there be productive uses? Yes. Are those productive uses the majority of cases for which AI is being used? I highly doubt it. If you know of sources for breakdowns of positive vs. negative uses of AI, I'd happily read them.

When I say AI, I mean all of it, from the environmental damage to the placement of data centers in underprivileged communities to the worst stock bubble in history to the job theft to the plagiarism to the crap it spits out.
