I was a teacher that did NOT vote in favour of the strike but was definitely pushed to and made to "feel bad" for not voting with the rest of the teachers. It is so frustrating to be apart of this when you don't want to be! The only people suffering are those students and if they were really "for the students" like so many teachers say they are, this wouldn't be happening. The biggest frustrations I have is that the teachers don't realize that with a bigger increase in salary, the higher the tax bracket which means they are going to be taking home about the same as now..also they bitch about wanting lower taxes, but that can't happen if they expect higher wages. The other thing, I would like to know how many of those teachers complaining about income got into teaching for the money. I sure as heck didn't! It was for the kids because I have a genuine interest in seeing them succeed. The union pushing this love of orange to all teachers but they didn't do anything for us while they had power. In fact our class sizes increased with them in power. And on that note, they need to get angry with the federal loonie toons who keep taking in every Tom dick and harry from anywhere. That's why some areas have such high class sizes.
