Parts of rural WA pinched by lapse in federal payments to counties, schools β’ Washington State Standard
Washingtonβs rural counties and school districts are preparing to start the school year without millions of dollars from a program meant to offset reduced revenue from logging on federal lands.
Our kids are starting a new school year, but our rural schools have been left out to dry.
The SRS program expired, and our timber counties have already laid off teachers and halted road projects.
Congress must act now, and our kids deserve a long-term fix.

We deserve a Congress thatβs unafraid to speak the truth and hold itself to the same standards most Americans do.
Itβs why Iβm fighting for basic, nonpartisan ethics standards for Representatives facing cognitive decline or memory loss.

In our laws and legislation, a thousand words paint a picture.
But sometimes a concept just can't be described without an image.
After I found out there's no process to add home blueprints for veterans to a bill, my amendment passed committee to work toward including visual information in bills.

This Democrat Wants Cognitive Standards in Congress. Her Colleagues Disagree.
Our family farmers have difficult conversations about who'll be next to run the farm when theyβre no longer able to.
Why shouldn't our Members of Congress be held to a similar standard?

Weβve got something incredible worth fighting for in Southwest Washington.
But itβs at risk if we donβt renew Secure Rural Schools grants.
Speaker Johnson, bring our bipartisan bill to the floor β for our kids, our rural communities, and the future of the skilled trades.

It takes a village to get a 9-ft chainsaw across the country.
But itβs worth it to show D.C. our pride in hard work, the trades, & our timber heritage.
Stevenson HS is giving shop class the prestige it deserves, and this wouldnβt have been possible without the help of some truly talented students.

The Majority couldn't decide what to do about the Epstein Files, so they sent Congress home early.
The Approps Committee called off too, meaning they conveniently won't vote tmw on my amendment requiring the files to be released to Congress. β¬οΈ

I just voted against an Interior funding bill in committee because it wasn't a good enough deal for SW Washington.
It slashes funding by 60%+ for clean water initiatives in our state and reduces resources for the agencies that maintain our public lands, monitor seismic activity, & run timber sales.

I also voted for an amendment that would address timber staffing challenges in Washington and strengthen our military readiness.
Rebuilding rural economies matters way more to me than the amendment also renaming an opera house 2,800 miles away.

If there's one thing Democrats & Republicans agree on, it's that headlights are too damn bright.
Brightness doubled in the last decade, yet standards are from before I was born.
My amendment passed to find solutions bc it's not a binary choice between the light of 1,000 suns & driving in the dark.

To identify counterfeit bills, you don't just study counterfeit bills β you know what the real thing looks like.
Likewise, to build a future worth having, Congress needs to focus on what that will look like β not only on the policies we dislike. β¬οΈ

βBeautifulβ bill will batter OBH, officials warn: Hospital fears significant revenue loss - Chinook Observer
WASHINGTON, D.C. β To the president, itβs βbeautiful.β For rural hospital administrators, including those on the peninsula, itβs causing heartburn. The massive budget bill that was passed by Congress ...
Ocean Beach Health could lose 40% in revenue under the partisan reconciliation bill jammed through the House.
Essential services will erode and our seniors will have to travel further for care.

The big bill makes major cuts to Apple Health and adds even more burdensome red tape for working U.S. citizens.

I live in unincorporated Skamania Co. β so I know how difficult it can be to access care when you need it.

Itβs why I voted no.
