We deserve a Congress thatβs unafraid to speak the truth and hold itself to the same standards most Americans do.
Itβs why Iβm fighting for basic, nonpartisan ethics standards for Representatives facing cognitive decline or memory loss.
In our laws and legislation, a thousand words paint a picture.
But sometimes a concept just can't be described without an image.
After I found out there's no process to add home blueprints for veterans to a bill, my amendment passed committee to work toward including visual information in bills.

I just voted against an Interior funding bill in committee because it wasn't a good enough deal for SW Washington.
It slashes funding by 60%+ for clean water initiatives in our state and reduces resources for the agencies that maintain our public lands, monitor seismic activity, & run timber sales.
I also voted for an amendment that would address timber staffing challenges in Washington and strengthen our military readiness.
Rebuilding rural economies matters way more to me than the amendment also renaming an opera house 2,800 miles away.
If there's one thing Democrats & Republicans agree on, it's that headlights are too damn bright.
Brightness doubled in the last decade, yet standards are from before I was born.
My amendment passed to find solutions bc it's not a binary choice between the light of 1,000 suns & driving in the dark.

To identify counterfeit bills, you don't just study counterfeit bills β you know what the real thing looks like.
Likewise, to build a future worth having, Congress needs to focus on what that will look like β not only on the policies we dislike. β¬οΈ

Under the budget reconciliation bill, everyday families will come out in the negative, while Wall Street reaps the real benefits.
Its soaring national debt increase will worsen inflation and interest rates β and drive up costs on energy, food, and healthcare.
This budget reconciliation bill undermines the economic power of hardworking families β all to give a boost to the well-to-do.
Plus, it's one of the largest explosions of our deficit EVER from a single bill.
Southwest Washington deserved a better deal β so I voted no.
$4 trillion might just seem like another number on paper to politicians in D.C. β but if distributed, it would be $31,000 for every U.S. household.
Thatβs a massive explosion to our debt.
Families in Southwest Washington know it β and I do too.
Itβs why I voted no.
I just voted NO on a bloated, partisan reconciliation bill.
