After his death in 1870, Dr. James Young Simpson's family was offered a burial spot in Westminster Abbey in London, but they declined & instead buried him closer to home, here in Warriston Cemetery. (Point #8 on the map - look for a tall obelisk at the top of the steps next to the vaults.)
