He looked more of a link up player but then powered one in with his head (like everyone said he wouldn't). Defenders look terrified when he runs at them without possession. A few nice lay offs to release players.
He looks good so far π

Aspiring music writer. Currently listening through and (micro) reviewing the 500 Greatest Albums list from Rolling Stone Magazine. More music review/writing projects planned.

I think comfort is the main thing. If we can bring Wissa in and he can hit the ground running, the whole situation relaxes a bit in our favour.

Firm Black and White. I knew what you meant - but the fantasy of having won the FA Cup recently was just too attractive not to embrace for a second π

09.08.2025 22:37 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Probably juggling social media with trying to scrape the 'Isak 9' off his new Liverpool (or Leeds) shirt.
I sympathise....
Leave it, Fred. This guy does his research. You won't be able to win this argument. He knows all the facts and nuances of English football.
09.08.2025 21:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Oh dear. We are angry tonight aren't we?
Sorry, us "deluded" fans should probably accept the views of the guy on a different continent that collects football teams like PokΓ©mon cards.
I'm sure you're right. Maybe time for a warm drink and some deep breaths, though?
If he signs for Leeds will you be equally as happy?

09.08.2025 20:20 β π 12 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Probably need a CEO and a DoF then.
Which was the original point.
That's the failing.
If we're just gonna shop in the market of prestige players that have their heart set on playing for NUFC then it's gonna be a small list....
07.08.2025 19:24 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0We had Staveley/Ghodoussi - which is a loss we are just beginning to feel, it seems.
Also, they weren't established/sought after players from what I remember. Maybe the fact that we've done so well identifying talent has led to other teams trusting our judgement and going in to gazump us....
Maybe so. It's not like they don't realise though. We're trying and failing to buy players. The hierarchy needs to exist for things to change. Right now it feels like there's Eddie and some data whizzkid that been in the job 2 weeks. Must be sh*tting himself....
07.08.2025 19:03 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0That's what we all want but you only progress from this point by trying to buy players that are the level of the teams above you (or have that potential). So that's who we're up against and it's been humbling for us.
I've hated this summer - but I still love NUFC. Our fanbase needs to show that
There's been many summers where we didn't. We're now just shopping in a market that is hard for us because we have ambition. We're not losing out to anyone below us (Manyoo aside). We're losing out to title contenders and other CL established clubs.
07.08.2025 18:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This all got said last season, though?
Eddie's gonna take the England job/Only brought in Kelly/Paper-thin squad/Paul Mitchell's rubbing everyone up the wrong way.
Yet we won a cup and got in the CL.
It's the magic of being a Toon fan. Always drama.
Also, we've this far only sold/let go players that we were going to move on anyway. Wilson, Longstaff, Dubs, Hayden were all gonna go.
Nobody wanted to sell Isak and they still don't. If he wants to go then we become reactive but previous administrations would have sold him by now without replacing
The absence of actual football makes all of this happen in a vacuum where everyone forgets their pride in the team and the willingness to get behind the club rather than shake your fists in front of it.
We've been fucked over this summer but we are actually bidding for players and that is progress.
To anyone that was following my reviews of the 500 Greatest Albums on here:

05.02.2025 21:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I don't think Ray gets talked about enough but he obviously paved the way for a lot of what is also in this list from an R&B/Soul perspective.

However; This was a fantastic way for me to hear how important an artist Ray Charles was to Soul and Pop music as we know it. You can draw a chronological line through this from Blues, to Rhythm & Blues to Soul and it's kinda fascinating.

I'll also mention the Ray Charles compilation. There's a lot of differing views on compilations being part of this list and I'm on the negative side myself...

It doesn't sound like anything else. All epic strings and unsettling beats, brilliant poetry and unignorable wails. Not a recognisable song-structure in sight. It demands further listening but there was something to love in every track on first spin.

Graduation is great, enjoyed a lighter side of Kanye. Midnight Marauders is an awesome vibe. Bowie's most successfully progressive album in Low. But BjΓΆrk, the crazy Icelandic nymph, on both the albums I've heard so far always seems to grab my attention the most.

202. Homogenic - BjΓΆrk: A genre of its own. (Loved/Liked)
201: Midnight Marauders - A Tribe Called Quest: Horizontally-laidback hip-hop. Jazz-infused. Untouchably cool. (Liked)
Highlight: Homogenic - BjΓΆrk
Quite a strong batch here.

205. Tea for the Tillerman - Cat Stevens/Yusuf: Weaves emotional melodies with earnestness. (Liked)
204. Graduation - Kanye West: Breezy, Melodic beats, articulate rhymes. (Liked)
203. Pink Moon - Nick Drake: Succinct, haunting, heart-breaking, Folky songs. (Liked)

208. Tha Carter III - Lil Wayne: Quite enjoyable. Lyrically-alarming at times. (Liked/Maybe)
207. Eagles - Eagles: Country-rock. Enjoyable. Trans-American driving vibes (Liked)
206. Low - David Bowie: Dark, Synthy experimentalism. Pushing forward (Liked)
