Police need more powers to stop ‘naked racism and hatred’ after allowing Sydney neo-Nazi rally, premier says.
The Guardian.

So they tried to ban support rallies for Gaza, Palestine twice. Yet. Had no power to stop Neo Nazi illegal gathering. You hypocrite Minns.

Yep, USA is very large also. To get to the snow in winter here I would have to drive 2-3 hours. Snow is much rarer here unless you live in the mountains. We mainly have snakes and insects to worry about here. Nothing big...

I've never been a huge fan of homework. If a child is struggling to understand a concept at school it's not going to happen at home without help. That said, I do think that kids should be encouraged to read lots and to observe things around them.

Not as many in the area I live. The worst ones are all up north. Australia is such a big country and we have very diverse areas. Tropics up north, desert in the middle and the lower south is more temperate. I'm in the lower south, we don't get the heat and humidity as badly as they do up the top.

It's surprising how many student are anxious. Part of a teacher's role is to provide an atmosphere where children feel safe to learn and take the risks needed to be able to. Finding your passion is a wonderful thing!

I feel for my friends in the USA at the moment. I made many when doing 3d who I still keep in touch with. Stay safe.

That's interesting to know. We still have floppies as well as our original Amiga. One day I'm hoping to get it set up and play caverunner again.

Using knowledge learnt in one area and applying it to others can sometimes occur without a facilitator, but for some this is a very hard thing to do and they need someone to lead the learning to make those connections. We all have our own mix of learning styles.

Which is where you can look at a group of loose counters and know how many without counting just from patterns. I use this type of Knowledge when playing merge games. 2

Schools aren't big on abacuses that go above 20 beads these days in Australia. There was a reason behind this decision but it may have just been a preference for kids using loose counters rather than on a frame as this way they develop subitisation. 1

Why is this happening? What would happen if you continue? What number do you think it would be? 2

It means something when you discover something for yourself. We used to ask students to work out the answers using counters. After they would analyse the patterns. What numbers occur in the ones column, tens column etc. 1

I've found the best way to learn is by experimental play. Get her looking for the patterns rather than telling them, it means more if they find it out for themselves. I always did well in math at school but it annoyed me when the teacher couldn't explain why a formula works.

Sounds fascinating. As a retired teacher, rote learning of times tables doesn't really help kids when it comes to solving math problems. Focus in Australian schools was on teaching students to recognise the patterns in the tables and being able to use that knowledge to problem solve.

I remember people who used it for modding elder scrolls 3 Morrowind. Iirc they used it to change colour on textures. I could never get a handle on it but seeing it mentioned brought back many memories.

According to my husband, 50 years give or take depending on history of floppy and how they have been stored.

Worth reading... an interesting point. Can the USA go back to its original Constitution now that it's been demonstrated that there were loopholes that could be exploited? Where do people see this going?

Sorry if I misunderstood your post. I agree it's sad how much the USA has gutted their scientific infrastructure. It has put the USA back years in it's research capabilities.

My point was that the landing happened. Previously it had been Sci fi. Not sure how you made the assumption from my post that I am a conspiracy nut. I saw it happen I know it was real. Technology to fake it didn't exist at that time.

I'm old enough that many things previously thought to be science fiction are now happening. But then I was 8 when they landed on the moon.
