Finally and more seriously, Sámi culture remains under threat from outside sources. Redd Repparfjord are an activist group protesting the opening of a mine which will dump toxic chemicals into a protected Salmon Fjord, and the hills are important for reindeer herding. Show them some love!

Time for some spillover into my appreciation for Norwegian music, especially the kind from the North.

Han Helge & Han Håkon perform party songs in the Northern Norway dialect with a hint of Sámi influence chucked in. Both are also successful songwriters - Helge even produced Jovnna fra Tana.

I am incredibly lucky to say that I've been able to witness the artistry of Mari Boine first hand. A legend and a trailblazer for Sámi music.
