German 2024 Blu ray release of Highlander that uses a 4K scan of the movie.

I'll fire up my German Blu ray-copy later tonight with some beverages. It's a great version to buy if you're in region B (or region free), but don't want to pay for a 4K Blu ray. This has an excellent transfer with a great encode.

Terrence Malick's 10 films on Blu ray stacked in order of theatrical release.

Two films into the project I knew I had to also own them all. Don't tell my wife the cost of this stack (well the ones not on Criterion were not expensive).

Terrence Malick ranked A list of 10 films compiled on Letterboxd, including The Tree of Life (2011), The New World (2005), The Thin Red Line (1998), Days of Heaven (1978) and A Hidden Life (2019).

I watched all of Terrence Malick's films during the winter never having seen any previously. Here's my ranking.

Yet somehow I still haven't made a Sunday-afternoon of watching the two movies back to back. Individually I've seen the first one four times, and Part Two twice.

For my money A Winter Haunting is the greatest book I've ever read about depression. And of course at the same time it too involves an older male protagonist in a relationship with a much younger woman.

Dan Simmons was a writer many loved. I envy people who are not aware how messed up his politics became after 9/11 and his brain injury and can still enjoy his later novels without feeling icky about so many things in them.

When I first saw it we didn't yet have a home theatre (missed it at theatres), I bought a second hand Blu ray recently and I am very much interested in rewatching it just for the sound design now that we have proper 7 speaker surround at home. The train sequence should be amazing.

Donald Faison's gotten much better as an actor in the meanwhile, dude broke my heart in the first episode.

We nearly broke her on this tour in Helsinki when she discovered through some light crowd work that Finland has unisex scouts instead of girlscouts, and boyscouts.
