In other news, I come to #booksky to ask for an opinion: how do you feel about the idea that turning reading into an aesthetic hobby directly feeds into the root of anti-intellectualism?

I love loving books, but my god, hating books fuels me with energy. I just spite-read a bunch of 1☆ reviews of a book I absolutely despise highlighting everything that annoyed me about it. And I feel invigorated.
(No I will not say the name of the book. For some reason people love it.) #booksky

we went through this when the Gaiman allegations first came out, but "I hated his work and always knew he was a predator and you're bad and stupid for not seeing that" is a singularly unhelpful contribution to the discourse
