Looking at Don's other posts in the group, he doesn't have many cards with inscriptions. So part of me thinks that Orestes simply added this. But none of his autographed cards on eBay have this inscription. So that makes me think he didn't add this without the suggestion.

Orestes Destrade signed the car with "Randy Johnson: 1st strikeout victim"

Not sure if Orestes did this on his own or if someone asked him to use that inscription.

I got out of the inning, but it was clear the Pirates were not happy. Our first batter up the next inning, Larry Walker, knew it too. He asked hitting coach Tommy Harper, β€œWhat are the chances I’ll get hit here?”

Answer: high.

With the first pitch, Pittsburgh’s Blas Minor plunked Larry in the left hip, and it was on. Nobody hit Larry and got away with it, so he charged Blas, and we were in a donnybrook. Even though all I had done was try to get a ground ball by throwing a sinker, which hit a batter in the knee, my history preceded me.

The headhunter, SeΓ±or Plunk, had struck again.

I stayed in the dugout for this one β€” Felipe had told me not to even think about going out on the field. So I stayed in there, fighting as much as I could by yelling and pointing fingers. I didn’t think it was about me, but Dave Clark, a pinch hitter then for the Pirates, came over to the dugout. He was looking for me.

β€œYou, you’re the one I want to fight. Come out and fight.”

I came back with, β€œC’mon over here then,” but didn’t take him up on his offer, which was smart because I didn’t know he had been a Golden Gloves boxer in high school. He really wanted to kick my ass, though. I thought about it later, how he and Reggie Sanders and Derek Bell, three

Blas Minor is briefly mentioned in Pedro Martinez's 2015 autobiography, "Pedro".

I found my 136th MLB player who signs with Bible verses.

Blas Minor played 1992-1997. Three seasons for the Pirates. He signs mostly with Colossians 3:23, but some of his minor league cards have Proverbs 3:5-6.

I had a theory that this 2025 World Series was more exciting because there were less strikeouts (and more contact). But that theory didn't hold.

Of the 26 World Series since 2000, the 2025 World Series is 11th for most SO/IP. Rather average for strikeouts.
