One of the long-fabled Brexit Unicorns spotted outside the East Cowes Con. Club, Isle of Wight. (We were just walking past. Surreal sight...)

My perfect NYE includes putting on my pyjamas and not staying up till midnight. Happy New Year to all who celebrate — and also (especially) to all those who, like me, tend not to bother.

This is exactly what I've been doing for a while and it's a much healthier approach. I don't know how anyone gets anything done without doing this!

Here's a lovely egret we saw on one of our regular walks to the beach here in East Cowes on the Isle of Wight. This area is at the mouth of the River Medina, so we get quite a variety of birds, especially at low tide.

Thank you. Yes, I'll be patient and hope for the best. As the other place gets more and more toxic and insupportable, I'm hoping Bluesky will prove a popular haven for likeminds.

A little bit lonely on here. I would like to follow (and be followed by!) writers, composers, fellow creatives, historians, archaeologists . . . Refugee from the other place. Intensely political (eco-democratic socialist, I guess), but want to avoid it here. Suggestions welcome.
