A number of teams at the time were made up of guys who worked at the shipyards and took their team name from the ship they were building. There was a Valencia which was launched 7 years previously on the Clyde, so it's possible the team took the name from that.

Or they just liked the oranges...

Clarke didn't seem to know that Greece would play with a high press, didn't know how to deal with it, and certainly didn't know how to take advantage. Greece's failure to win highlights their failings, not Scotland's strengths. Any competent manager would be embarrassed by that performance.

Don't believe that Greece have better individual players than Scotland, but they're completely dominating the game. We're making them look world beaters. Long past time we had a management team in charge of the national team which can operate at this level. We clearly don't have that at the moment.
