RIP tiktok. It’s looking like Bluesky is to be my main yapping app for the foreseeable future. I’m overwhelmed by the constant flood of conflicting news, so I’m going to focus on doing fun stuff instead. Maybe do another exploring Webkinz or Balatro stream on Twitch. Idk. I’m very sad :-(

So like. Yes I could just give rednote my info and have probably nothing happen. But I don’t feel comfortable taking that risk due to the language barrier. AND LET ME BE CLEAR I take this approach with ALL WEBSITES!! I always do stuff like identifying pathways to delete accounts before signing up

So the idea of “sticking it to the man” by downloading a different Chinese app is like. Cool in theory. But a key defense for tiktok is that the user IS and ALWAYS HAS BEEN able to consent, and in the language they speak. You should always be concerned about privacy, but have the right to CHOOSE!!!!

I’d also like to say that I’m okay if tiktok “has my data” because it’s been 4 years and nothing bad has happened to me. And their terms of service are in English so I CAN make an informed decision. Rednote is practically all Mandrin. Even if it is safe- I don’t know! I can’t read it! Skill issue!

I try really hard not to let it show but I’m a very anxious person and I require a lot of routine and control over said routine to not lose my marbles. A big part of my world is crumbling and I’m struggling to cope and I know it’s irrational but that’s how my brain has always worked

I’ve always had an intense amount of anxiety around social media and who’s looking at me and who’s watching and it genuinely triggers something awful in me to feel like I have no control

I’m gonna crash out fr I don’t want to download any more apps. I don’t want to download rednote “for the bit” like I’m TIRED and I’m SAD and I genuinely don’t like having all these accounts and passwords because it makes me nervous

ALSO I keep meaning to stream on my Twitch or Tiktok, but honestly I’m just vibing instead. You never realize how bad it was until it gets better.
