First post would be short stories I read in January that inspired some thoughts.

Couple of goods ones in ergot ("Lillie" and "Appear Missing"); Carson Winter's "The Children of the Event"; an all timer from Josh Pearce; and two stories I really didn't like. Yes sorry there will be negative reviews.

I've been bingeing some recent Pseudopods in my sickbed and The Book whips. A Guy is persuaded (deceived?) to do some heinous shit by a Weird book. Bad times ensue.

It's in The Skull & Laurel #3. Buy it and read this story, it'll be the best thing you do this year.

Read a short story today that blew me the fuck away.

Though Josh Pearce's "Witches in Cold Mountain Halls" might be better described as some kind of genre-destroying contemporary epic poem built from the bones of a dark fantasy dungeon crawl.

A real feat of deliberate prose as an art form.

Every weekend I post a new page or some process work of my gothic horror comic Worms to patreon. If you want to support a disabled trans artist and get to see some comics about horrid priests being horrid, it’s only Β£3 a month and is a huge help for me. www.patreon.com/erikapriceart

I’m so disillusioned with the marketing side of running a mag. Think it’s obvious I’ve always been uncomfortable with it but I hate it so much I want to stop any notion of having a β€˜product’ to sell. I’d like people to support us for the value of the art we put out, it’s the only thing that matters.

We're back! STP #12 is out now and it's full of dark weird upsetting fiction from Kay Vaindal, Joe Koch, Samuel M. Moss, Tabitha Bast, & Z.D. Dochterman.

Plus Tiffany Morris interviews Ivy Grimes, Shinjini Dey on writing disaster in The Singularity, and stellar insightful reviews from Zach Gillan.

It’s been a while since we’ve put an issue of Seize The Press out, simply cos I couldn’t find the right stories. But I just sent the final copy of issue #12 off to be compiled and I’m so excited for people to read it, I’m really proud of this one.

"Pearl" by J. F. Gleeson might be favourite short story I've read so far this year. Masterful and unique manipulation of prose; awful, fucked vibes. Is his wife dead? Who knows. What a story.

I find reading bad books interesting in its own way so I’ll probably end up finishing it. Baffling this is such a popular book though.

Annoying affectations aside, this is just a bad book. There's no emotional weight to the existential terror of being abandoned on another fucking planet. Just a list of logistical problems and setbacks to think his way through. It's just boring.

Pig is a film that operates on such a specific level of ridiculousness that it circles right back round to utmost sincerity. Truly a role only Nicolas Cage could have pulled off.

I just reread Joe Koch’s story The Power Company Detective that will be in the next issue of Seize The Press and there’s such a raw energy to the prose, it rearranged my brain chemistry.

Genuinely think Joe is one of the best writers out there and you’re going to love this story in the worst way.
