I've always interpreted James Bond / Agent 007 to be a title, an alias. It's not one guy, it's several people with the same job.

You could also argue that each actor played Bond in a separate continuity.

It's hard to summarize just how bad of an experience this was.

I've read books that just weren't my cup of tea, but this book WAS.

It was fantasy with noire and action elements.

This WAS my cup of tea, but someone pissed in it and kicked me in the dick when I picked it up.

I read 2 chapters of a book on Saturday and I am still violently upset about its quality. I've never been so angry at a book before.

I WANT to calm down, I WANT to let it go. But every time I think about anything that I read I just get angry again.

Yeah, I got through a couple of chapters and I just... I can't. For my own good, I'm setting it down.

Sage advice. I've pushed myself through some stinkers before and they killed me all the way through. I should not do that again.

Right? Something at the end of the book is fine. Something to reflect on or consider after going through the story.

Putting it at the start just takes me out of it. This is awful. I don't want to read this book.

(The writing also sucks)

First named character of the book wasn't on that list. I immediately checked out and decided not to care about them because they weren't important.

DON'T SPOIL YOUR OWN BOOK AT THE START OF YOUR OWN BOOK.

They detailed their names, races, sexualities, genders and professions!

Trust in your readers to ascertain this information over the flow of a story and have enough faith in your skill as an author to communicate it.

This guide tells me they don't trust readers or their own skill.

Hey writers of #booksky, a quick tip:

Do not, under any circumstances, put a CHARACTER GUIDE at the start of your book.

I'm doing an ARC read and this author laid out every character of note at the start of the book.

Great, if they're not named here, then I won't care about them. OK.

Yeah, the general horror of everything makes it pretty hard to write a book.

...But I DID write my book during all of this, so maybe that's actually fuel?

Incredible performances. Top-tier MonHun gameplay will always be a spectacle. I love my comfy builds too much to do these, but all the credit in the world to the players who perfect the art.

The temptation to just self-publish Goulinn and get the book out there right now is gnawing at my soul. I've had the cover staring me in the face for months.

I'm only a month out from starting to work officially with the publisher. Just gotta be patient... #booksky

Man I have been waiting 25+ years for Uub to be properly utilized in a story. The brief glimpse we got of him in the Super manga had me jump out of my seat in excitement, but I don't think we'll ever get much more than that.

Though the fancomic Dragonball Multiervse has been good to him, at least!

Note that GT is not alone in this. I hate Super to a slightly lesser degree for a lot of the same reasons.

They both tried to stand on the shoulders of the giants that were DB/Z, but failed to capture the themes and characterization that made those earlier series so gigantic in the first place.

Ehhh. I'll admit there is some fun to be had in GT, but that enjoyment is fleeting and requires me to turn off my brain and forgive a lot of really bad writing and characterization.

I'll say that GT had some excellent concepts, but it fails in its execution of every one of them.

I mean, if they had a home, I don't think they'd have much of a reason to adventure, would they?

Brillante has a family home to go back to, but Tychus, Ruby and Ekaf? They've got the clothes on their backs and not much more than that.

For whomever needs to hear this right now:

Take a deep breath.

It's going to be ok.

You are worthwhile. It's ok to not be ok for a while, but you'll get through this. We'll get through this.

Times are tough right now. Most of us are feeling the stress. But we're going to be ok.
